O'Byrne trade opens up a spot for who?

Since Pouliot has been set on a line with Darche and Halpern, there is clearly a need for a top-6 winger. Gomez and Gionta need a winger. Pyatt, Moen and Lapierre are not the anwser. Martin dosen't seem to incline to play Eller there either.

So would a call-up be the solution? The O'Byrne trade opens up that possibility. Could this be a chance for Pacioretty, Palushaj, White or Desharnais to be called-up?

Personnaly, I think it would be a good time to try out Pacioretty on one of the top-2 lines. If not, maybe Palushaj.

I think we just freed up more cap space to give Gomez more money.

In all seriousness, it may end up being Pacioretty. But then I guess Boyd gets sent down.

Palushaj is defenately tearing up the AHL right now, and he's got the speed to complement those 2.

Might be worth a try !

The question is, can he play off wing? Too bad Avstyn or Maxpac ain't ready yet...

Obyrne should have been packaged ie : with picks, rights of ramo and prospects like desharnais and weber (the ones doing well the organisation seems to snub) ... pretty sure the return would have been better than grabbing satan, even for nothing. you haven't given up anything if you never intended to play weber and desharnais in montreal like it seems to be the case.

Trade for UFA Langenbrunner. NJD still in cap problems? Even if not their team sucks so maybe they'd take some assets for a soon to be UFA.

Avstyn is a RW too unfortunately. We were always short on RW's before lol. Now we have too many in the system

Langenbrunner would be a nice pickup to play on one of the top 2 lines, can play at both ends, brings leadership and is also good friends with Gio.

I'd rather trade for Elias and complete the old Devils line that had so much success a few years back. The EGG line!!

Definitely but Elias is 6 million for 3 more seasons and Langenbrunner is UFA for 2.8, this is why I figure come deadline we might have a shot at landing him.

I agree though getting Elias would be nice still. Maybe they can give us Gio's little bro as a throw in

it doesnt open a spot for anyone, we already have an extra body up front, as well as on the back end...

all it does is free up some $.

He used to be top 6.
Has his play diminished so much ?
Is he still solid defensively ?

Didn't he win the Conn Smythe when Dallas won the cup ?

He had 61 points last year how is that not a top 6 forward? When you have Maxim Lapierre on your second line Langenbrunner would be more than a solid addition..
