That's 3 documented instances of him ( Lee ) getting the team to the big game and then having a big meltdown. In any event maybe we can still consider him a good prospect.

It's also interesting that we took Visentin in the 1st round 27th overall but Domingue in the 5th round 138th overall turns out to be the better prospect ( for now ).

Which is why we shouldn't have selected Visentin in the 1st round, because as with most goalies, it's a crap shoot so why not wait for later rounds to select one. Domingue looked better than Visentin in camp and currently is out performing Visentin and didn't cost us a chance at selecting a forward with upside.

Couldn't agree more. We really needed to find a goalscorer.

I'm convinced the Coyotes had their heart set on Kevin Hayes who was selected at #24 when Chicago traded up to get him.

DM should have been a little more aggressive in going after what he wanted. After Hayes was off the board they probably just decided to go with the next guy on their list which happened to be Visentin.

They probably thought they could have got him with their 2nd rounder, but why risk losing out on another player they wanted.

I would have preferred Charlie Coyle, Brad Ross or Calle Jarnkrok to Visentin, but what's done is done.

Gormley suffered a potentially serious knee injury last night. His kneecap popped out of place and back in. WJC status is definitely in jeopardy and potentially the season. Will be evaluated again this week but it really doesn't look good right now.

Perhaps. But you never know with prospects. With Niagra Visentin is 9-4-3 with a 2.60 GA and .910 SV %. I'm encouraged by that. We'll see in 3-4 years if he pans out. Young goaltending is certainly a need with this team.

That's a huge, huge, huge bummer. I figured the Q would be the best place for him next year anyway (which is to say, better than the NHL, which would be his only other option), so he does have plenty of time to rehab. Still, ugh.

That sucks. For such a smooth skater this is a big problem. Hopefully he gets lucky.

re Gormley

A dislocated kneecap is not too bad an injury (good prognosis for complete recovery) unless there is a fracture as well.

WJC are almost certainly out of the question. Ususally need 2 months rehab before returning to sports.

Gormley injured

Sorry to be the bad news messenger, but Brandon Gormley was injured in a Cats/Lewiston game yesterday, he had to be helped off the ice, and couldnt put any pressure on his knee. Aparently, his kneecap popped out. Not sure of the severity of the injury, and of course some of the injury news is speculative (apparently phoenix flew him to town to see their team doctors)

Not sure how to post a direct link, but go here:

Gormley update.........He is likely to miss 3 to 4 weeks, injury not likely as severe as previously believed. Only reason im posting Gormley injury news is because his spot on Team Canada could be in jeopardy, which is unfortunate im looking forward to watching him play on the big stage

As I'm sure many of you are aware Gormley and Visentin invited to Canada's WJC camp. Time will tell whether Gormley will be able to participate.

http://www.tsn.ca/world_jrs/feature/?id=33764

As many had anticipated Domingue didn't get his invite in the mail.

I'm not shocked that Domingue was not invited. Next year will probably be his year. Just think, next year has potential to be a Visentin/Domingue tandem

He's been doing OK in SEL ( 21 1 2 ). Very unlucky, been called "The Crossbar master" . Plays in 4th most of the time (the junior line ) and always does a great grinding job. when 1st C was injured he played some games in 1st line too. Which suits his style of play much better.

Probably will lead 3rd line in WJC and I think that he can be a big contributor to the team if he gets his stuff together. Very good hands, and OK skater too.

found a clip from 1 week ago were he A:s on the 2-0 goal. no.24

OT
Joakim Lindström with a tennis-goal in the clip too. Leads SEL scoring with 32 points in 26 games

u can watch the U20-game vs Skelleftea - Lulea @http://www.norrstream.se starts 19.00 CET (13.00 Eastern).

Skelleftea has sent down 2/3s of 4th line to play in juniors. Including Lindberg.

Given the heat Maloney and co. took for the Visentin pick (from others and from a lot of us), this is a small bit of vindication, though they'll be scrutinized until either a) Vistentin is successful at the NHL level for the Coyotes or b) every single name player drafted after him busts spectacularly. Otherwise, this could be worse than the Wheeler situation. I know Visentin wasn't taken as high and probably won't find some loophole to bail, but this may have been a bigger reach and at least Wheeler turned out to be a decent player.
