I don't think Mez gets moved he has been great this year I think it comes down to who you could get more for Carle or Hartnell and if Hartnell will waive his NTC.

Although I do believe he had agreed to waive it earlier this year to go to EDM. I remember seeing a thread on here before about that but don't remember if it was proved to be true.

Chris didn't factor in a cap increase.

Looks tight, but then again the cap will probably go up at least 1-2mil.

I can see Carle being the sacrificial lamb.

Yea i know, but we really don't know how much that will be. Early reports say as much as 3.5 to 4.5 mill, but that might be a bit to high.

If we get 3.5-4.5 that's a free Claude Giroux. If the cap increase basically pays for Giroux's raise, we're golden.

I'll take it.

We still need to get rid of Walker's salary at the very least.

I am fine with that I would take a forward prospect for him and let Mez play with Pronger. Than have Barts and either a Phantom or a UFA on the 3rd pairing.

I'm not fine with it.

In a perfect world this is our team:

Nodl - Richards - Giroux
Hartnell - Briere - Leino
vanRiemsdyk - Carter - Wellwood
Powe - Betts - Kalinski
Shelley

Pronger - Carle
Timonen - Coburn
Meszaros - Gustafsson
Bartulis

Leighton
Boucher (re-signed at 0.93)

The difference between Boucher and Leighton is 0.62 and the difference between Walker and Gustafsson is 0.80 for 1.42m total space.

That 1.42m goes a LONG way in keeping Carle.

In no world should we keep Leighton and Walker and sacrifice Carle.

I know there are Carle haters here. I'm one of them. That said, I'd rather spend whatever money to keep Walker and Leighton off this team and in the AHL than sacrifice a top 4 defenseman who happens to be playing better than ever.

People need to realize most goal scorers are inconsistent if you look at the goal runs Carter goes on he hits the corners of the nets pretty much every time he shoots. When he isn't he is going high and wide. Also some people don't realize he has 14 points in 16 games this year and 8 goals.

I see Mez as making Carle redundant. He should have a similar offensive output as Carle, but more physical.

This is when we will need one of our prospects to step-up. Marshal, Bourdon, or Gustafsson.

I see Meszaros and Carle as having our cake and eating it too. We want to keep both if at all possible.

I sent him to the minors because he was just too good. It wouldn't be the Flyers if we had a goalie.

6 mil for Carter is great anything over and it looks like too much, anything undefined and it's an absolute steal

I just find it gives the team more leeway with cap space. What if Lappy decides to retire instead of milking the money on LTIR? We all like to push our "paper team" to the brink of the cap, but most teams leave a mil or so to fool around with.

I'd also think after increasing Carle's value with Pronger, we may get a decent return and replace him with someone cheaper or better.

I am no Carle hater. Many people wanted him gone last year, and I argued often that we needed to keep him.

So in your perfect world Kalinsky is a 4th line regular, our starting goalie is Leighton, Bob is in the minors or traded and Shelly is still eating cap space? that sounds like a pretty crappy world to me.

Shelley is staying regardless of what you or anyone thinks. I'd rather put Kalinski in his spot on the 4th line and have Shelley as a call-up every once in a while.

The Leighton thing was a mistake. It should be Bobrovsky.

Now re-sign Ville for 3-4 years, and we'll be all set.

I'm thinking 3 years @ $10M or 4 years @ $13.5M.

I have a funny feeling this is Kimmos last season as a flyer unless they win a cup.
