Jay Feaster:

Quote:
"We have been informed that . . . the victim is going to follow through and press charges," said Feaster, a lawyer by training. "So (Sutter) has been charged with assault-touched to injure. Itís a third-degree misdemeanour in Arizona. The next thing thatíll happen from a legal perspective is that a plea will have to be entered at a hearing on Nov. 30 in Scottsdale. Brett wonít have to be there in person. He can have legal counsel enter a plea for him.

"From an organization perspective, our first reaction is that this is highly out of ó totally out of ó character for this player. Thatís not who or what Brett is. Obviously, itís unfortunate weíre in this situation and itís unfortunate for Brett. But, again, it doesnít reflect Brett. It doesnít reflect the kind of person that heís been in this organization. So we are going to do everything we can to support him . . . and help him as he goes through this process."

Quote:
"Heís shook up, heís embarrassed," said Feaster. "I mean, he clearly feels bad about putting everyone in this situation. And obviously itís a case of not knowing how the process plays out. So heís as youíd expect a young man to be ó heís concerned."

The Calgary Herald is also reporting that it was a cabbie that Sutter punched.

Man, what is it with those darn cabbies and hockey players?

It's all part of the plan to take the heat off Iginla for not scoring.

Impossible. Only Americans punch cabbies for no good reason.

The Cabbie was probably beaking off or something.

At least this wasn't Iginla or someone important. Sutter is very good at his role imo but is replaceable.

I can easily see someone in his scenario not mixing well with alcohol. Your dad's GM and your uncle's coach, so you have to work even harder to prove that you deserve a chance. You've paid your time in the minors, you finished 1st in fitness testing and another guy like Stefan Meyer comes along and takes that spot you were hoping for. Even with several injuries you have gone down the depth chart, and you will only sink further as there is still a large injury reserve. He really has no chance at making this club in the present or the near future.

Different municipalities but they are like 10 miles away from each other. Same city essentially.

Umm no. The difference between Scottsdale and Phoenix is like the difference between Beverly Hills and East Los Angeles. Well, maybe not THAT extreme but you get the idea.

Apparently Sutter was at the bar with Mikael Backlund after they finished paying for the teams "rookie dinner." (which, in case you didn't know, is where all the rookies are left to pay for the whole teams meals and usually the older guys order tons of expensive stuff. Really crappy if you are the only rookie).
