Jeff Carter Contract Extension, 11/13/10
“I’m sure as everyone knows by now, we have reached an agreement with Jeff Carter on a long-term contract. We’re happy to have Jeff signed for the foreseeable future. He’s an integral part of the core of our hockey team. This took a little bit of time to get done, but we’re happy to have it done.”
Q: Paul, does he have a no-trade [clause] at all in this contract, and when does it kick-in?
“It’s a limited no-trade. There’s a brief time that we can’t trade him. Obviously, that’s not an issue right now. We’re happy to have this done. Jeff is a part of the future of the Flyers.”
11 years is kinda long but 5.27 cap hit? Ill take it. I guess the constant changing of players on our roster wont happen anymore. We pretty much signed alot of our players to long term deals, guaranteeing their with the team. Lets just hope they dont get injured.
If he puts out for the years he plays, IMO that is a stone cold steal for the Flyers... considering that the star players will be making much much more than that.
I assume that it is front loaded though and he will be making much more cash and can walk later in the contract while still getting most of his contracted money. I also assume that the number of the years in the deal has been determined by the new NHL tested guidelines to not be considered circumvention.
I am one happy camper... and I had already decided to wear my Carter jersey tonight, so I'm golden. :YO:
