Just excited to see what the Leino-Briere-Hartnell line is going to do tonight. They're just fun to watch, especially Leino. Dude just has ridiculous moves.

Not on this team. 3rd line is a scoring line. Powe is not a scorer. I like the guy's speed, but he's nothing more than an energy player who is not afraid to throw his weight around. Which is befitting of a role on our fourth line.

PHILADELPHIA – The afterglow of Friday’s 2-1 victory over the Wild dimmed dramatically when it was learned that forward Steve Bernier would undergo surgery Saturday to repair an orbital bone fracture sustained in a post-game fight with defenseman Brent Burns.

There’s no timetable for Bernier’s return, but certainly 2-4 weeks would be an optimistic prognosis.

Burns, who was assessed a five-minute major and game misconduct, was suspended by the NHL for two games, Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher told ESPN.

Burns fired the last shot of the game and was pushed by Bernier. Burns then punched Bernier, and the butt-end of his stick caught the former Canuck above his right cheekbone. Bernier dropped to the ice in a pool of blood.

“Whether there was intent there or not, that’s for other people to decide,’’ Panthers coach Pete DeBoer said. He’s pretty hurt in there.”

They have no legit heavyweight in the starting line-up. God bless we ice Shelley.
Hordichuk is playing tonight

Hopefully this will be a clean game. We don't need anymore injuries.

No kidding. Although to be fair, I think there was a touch more obvious "intent" in what Briere did than what Burns did.

First offense could play into it.

Update: Burns will lose $38,172 of his $3.8 million salary. It's his first offense, so he's suspended based on $3.55 million cap hit over 186 days, not 82 games, meaning he loses two days pay.

General Manager Chuck Fletcher: "I don’t think anybody feels worse about the situation than Brent himself. You watch the play, there’s clearly no intent on Brent’s part to injure the player.

"All of us hope Steve Bernier has a speedy recovery, but for those of us that know Brent and watched him play, he’s not that type of player. He’s not a dirty player."

Fletcher said that league discipline czar Colin Campbell was sympathetic toward Burns, but he was contending with a significant injury to Bernier and had to make a statement.
Also, fom Florida's head coach (same media source as above):
Quote:
DeBoer on Burns: a clean player, meant Bernier no harm. Bernier likely out for weeks.

If he doesn't score another hat trick tonight, I'm sure the calls to trade him will immediately commence.

Where did DeBoer coach Burns in Jrs? One of the Twitter remarks mentions that.

The only time I can think of is perhaps an all-star game. Burns wasn't on the 2005 World Junior team where PD was an assistant coach.
