CANADIENS ADDING GUERIN?
The Montreal Canadiens’ trade of defenseman Ryan O’Byrne to the Colorado Avalanche raised speculation the Habs will use the $941,667 they cleared in cap space to sign veteran winger Bill Guerin.
However, a recent report from ESPN.com noted Guerin’s agent said they “really haven’t had anything for two to three weeks” and while the veteran is keeping his options open he appears to be leaning more toward retirement.
It remains to be seen if the Canadiens will use that available cap space to bolster their forward lines or hang onto it for the time being in hopes of putting it to better use later in the season. Despite their anemic offense (especially on the power play) the Habs are riding high in the Eastern Conference standings so there’s currently little pressure on management to take on a free agent
If Billy wants to play and someone is willing to sign him I hope he gets ice time. Love the dude for the cup run. And he will only help us on the roster of another team.
So why not cheer him on?
In the end, I just hope the rumors of him getting a front office job are true. If you watch any practice video of him during the cup run he is a awesome locker room presence and can motivate players.
Regardless what happens hope he ends up with the org, but if he wants to play and someone will sign him for one last season. I won't hold it against him. In the end I just hope he bags are packed to come back to Pittsburgh.

I have no idea why. Did you see the show they put on last night once Gionta and Cammalleri got paired with Plekanec? They legitimately have 6 guys who can light the lamp or assist with regularity (assuming Gomer starts to suck less).
Doesn't make much sense to me. The Habs are a team that thrives on its speed up front. Of course, I'd enjoy seeing all my buddies squirm at the sight of Guerin completely killing the momentum on the attack

Haha, it would be funny.
Tell them he is not way behind on this rush up ice, he's just way ahead for the next one.
I think he would be an awful fit just based on his lack of speed alone. The Canadiens are a speed team / are built like a speed team so Billy just doesn't fit. He doesn't have better skills than anyone on that top 6 and has worse speed than just about everyone on the roster. I could see him being useful on the 2nd PP as a body in front of the net, but that's about it.
Guerin would be a worse Hab than Laraque, imo. They aren't a great team, but they sure are speedy. And they play that passive resistant system under Martin. Guerin isn't a fit at all.
