Some nice balance when everyone is playing well...Gionta is back, and Gomez is working on it...Pleks has been awesome, no matter who is on his line...great game for the boys, other than the Markov incident...let's hope we get some good news on Monday...

Sorry...the Habs have way more class than that. Andrei Markov has been a loyal member of the Montreal Canadiens organization for a long time, not only is he their best player but when he was injured, he worked EXTREMELY hard to get back to the lineup because he's so dedicated to the Habs cause.

I FULLY expect the Habs are going to show him the same loyalty when it's time to negotiate a new deal, he'll likely get less money than he would have, but I fully expect the Habs and Markov to reach a new long term deal at some point.

You mean the same Habs that gave Plekanec a 1 year deal, Price a 2 year deal? Different circumstances but regardless.

Business is business, class has nothing to do with this. I'm not discounting Markov's work ethic to get back into the line up. I LOVE Andrei Markov so don't try and make it seem like I don't want him back.

If he can't play minimum 65-70 games a year we are going to have to find another Top 4 defenseman who can log 22+ minutes a game. This is a fact.

Like you said, different circumstances...and i'll add, TOTALLY different circumstances.

The only fact that matters right now, is no one knows the extent of Markov's injury and no one knows how he'll recover when he does eventually return.

Fundamentally, I don't disagree with you...I just think this is extremely premature at this point.

It is extremely early.

It's easy to be pessimistic about the situation though as we've all seen Markov fall to injury in similar fashion several times in the last 3 seasons and it never had positive results. Had it been Plekanec or Gorges (guys known for surreal durability) the overall sentiment would be more optimistic IMO.

IF Markov re-injured his knee and he's out for a considerable period as a result, I would start worrying that his days playing as an elite defenceman might be numbered. That would be very unfortunate but once a knee is badly damaged, it hampers your playing ability so he may never become the player he was - thats the very pessimistic view.

Hope its nothing major and he's back in a few games though.

Canes player shoots puck in stands

Why is this not on the news anywhere? During a tv timeout Tim Gleason shot a puck into the stands injuring a girl who had to leave. Lapierre went after Gleason. Then TK stepped in. Thats why there was a 5 on 3 when after the break. Anyone else see this?

He shot a puck straight into the stands? That's pretty dangerous, way more than a deflection during play, because no one expects a player to do that. Especially during a TV timeout where people are looking at the jumbotron or whatever and not paying attention to what's going on in the ice. Hopefully the fan who got hit is ok.

Justin Williams, Eric Staal, Tim Gleason. Menace to the health of Habs and Hab fans. What a shower.

Plekanec was coming off a poorly productive season (although he still managed 20G), and Price is the one that wanted a short term deal.

I'd be extremely surprised if we don't offer Markov a deal, regardless of what happens. We're not talking about a top4 D, we're talking about a #1 D. We're lucky that Subban is so good and made Markov's presence a lot less noticeable.
Markov needs to be re-signed, and I'd love to get a guy like Kaberle over as well next year.

If this happened I'm sure the league is going to do something, at least fine Gleason for this.

I didn't notice it but if it indeed happened, Gleason should be heavily suspended. Shooting a puck into the stands and injuring a fan is horrible stuff. They've suspended players for throwing broken sticks into the stands.

That sure looks fake. No mention on it anywhere on the interweb...

EDIT: The reason we got a 5 on 3 was

16:36 MTL Maxim Lapierre : Roughing - 2 min
16:36 MTL Maxim Lapierre : Misconduct (10 min) - 0 min
16:36 CAR Jiri Tlusty : Slashing - 2 min
16:36 CAR Tim Gleason : Misconduct (10 min) - 0 min
16:36 CAR Tom Kostopoulos : Roughing - 2 min
16:36 CAR Tom Kostopoulos served by Jussi Jokinen : Roughing - 2 min

16:36 CAR Tom Kostopoulos : Misconduct (10 min) - 0 min

Carolina got 3 penalties, we had 1
