1) You are voting for the franchise player who will receive a 4 year, 24 million dollar "franchise player" contract. Everyone else will be a UFA, including prospects so who you don't vote for will be on sale to the highest bidder.
2) Player will play all 82 games for that 4 year span and goalies will start 65+ games a season. Basically the player will be immune to injury for 4 years.
Staal won pretty big in the last poll. Now up are the Blackhawks. Ruutu is probably going to win this one pretty big.
Anaheim: JS Giguere (49%)
Atlanta: Ilya Kovalchuk (64%)
Boston: Joe Thornton (95%)
Buffalo: Thomas Vanek (40%)
Calgary: Jarome Iginla (92%)
Carolina: Eric Staal (81%)
Ruutuu. Big and strong with an excellent offensive dimension. Showed his potential in the second half of last season.
Chicago does have reason for some optimism in the future, especially on D, with a future all-star in Barker, their future captain/big-money player in Seabrooke, and a bona-fide top three defenceman in Babchuk. Ruutuu and Arnason will provide some pop up front.
The two posters are right. In the original rules it doesnt count against the cap. I took it out of the main rules because that part of the rule didnt matter much. I use the franchise idea from one of the PA proposals. The contract doesn't work for some teams , but it's there to weed out the people who are just going to vote for prospects because they're under 25. It's just something to make you think between proven talent and potential talent and where you would build the team around if you could only keep one player on that contract.
Wow...guess i need to watch more CHI games next season...I had no idea he was so good ( considering he is blowing everyone away)...I thought Barker would have had at least a dozen votes...yet im the single one.
