I'd be ok signing him 2-3 years. I doubt he'd be ok with that

I don't ever understand fickle fans that have a mentality the grass is greener on the other side. Montreal has a world class defensemen in Andrei Markov, a player who controls the flow of a game, creates offense, can skate the puck out of the zone. Yes, let's get rid of the Bum! Gee Whiz!

Seriously, some of you feel like we have to trade or not resign Markov ?????

This board is in bad shape.

What straw body? Is Markov not human? He was stabbed in the Achilles heel and was shoved awkwardly twice in the board. Staal's knee on knee almost looked like it was intentionnal, but it remains a really awkward play. Would you call Cammalleri injury prone because he fell awkwardly as well?

What the **** is injury prone anyway? Markov doesn't hurt his shoulder or his groin every week, but his knee.

I don't know where 3 months comes from. IMO it'll either be 7-10 days if it's a charlie horse or 6 months if he reinjured the ACL. What could be injured that keeps him out for 3 months? It seems like a really strange timeline.

First I thought it was a couple of randos saying stuff, but now I see you are quite correct.

People who want to do ANYTHING BUT re-sign Markov, GTFO!

Expect for the Staal comment (don't think that there was any intent), I would have to agree with this post. Sheldon Souray is injury prone, while Markov has had bad luck. Anyone use in the same position would have received the same injuries as Andrei.

Markov out 3 months

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=341225

*sigh*

Well technically it's a lie. But tsn makes it look like it's 3 months. It's unconfirmed, as of yet.

seems like they're just following the pack (as you alluded to). Won't know until after the MRI. I suppose we go with 3 months as a worst case scenario. The comments in that article re: we should get rid of Markov, are just as appalling as the ones in the other thread. If only we could keep track of all the people who have talked **** about Pleky, Price and now Markov. Then when they, as all of the sane people on this board and otherwise preach, show how good they are, the haters MUST make public (well online) apologies for their idiocy and lack of any identifiable foresight. Ya, I'm being opinionated, but if you think Andrei Markov is not "worth it", the leafs are looking for fans to fill the void now that they're losing. You know, foolish bandwagonners.

Why does the TSN article title seem to state a fact, and then the body talks about it being a possibility/estimation (which it is)? Bad, reckless reporting continues.

You know, while I can understand Habs management wanting to be careful before publicly releasing length of injury information the same night of the injury, they really should have a good idea about how long Markov is likely to be out for by now. And given how passionate their fanbase is, they should know that if they don't make an official report ASAP that rumors and speculation will totally take over.

Somebody high up from the Montreal organization should be going before news cameras to report on this by now. They really should.

I have learn nothing special on TSN...

"Citing unconfirmed reports, the Montreal Gazette speculates that Markov could be out of the Canadiens lineup for up to three month"

Lets wait before taking any conclusion.

TSN is citing the Gazette, which pretty much got their info from RDS, which got their info from...''sources''.

There is no possible way to give a time line in terms of comeback unless an MRI was taken and a clear diagnosis was given. Until this happens, everything you hear is speculative.

So, for now, it's better to wait before jumping to conclusions.

I don't see how this deserves its own thread.

They say Markov will miss up to 3 months. This means between 0 days and 3 months.

Nothing new here. Let's wait till we get the OFFICIAL word after he gets his MRI.

You realize we won't/can't do anything of significance with the cap we save from losing Markov right? The second Markov hits UFA, he'll be overpaid like crazy by a team because he's easily the best D that'll be available (or he'll sign with a team that's close to the cup like the Caps...his critics will probably assume he'll go for the money but he's been on record saying money isn't everything to him) and we'll have to end up overpaying for a significantly worse defenseman out of need to replace him. There is nothing good that can come out of not signing Markov.

Well i hope for the best but i really question what is going on in JM's head.

What Markov was doing on the ice in a blowout is beyond me. It was prime time to allow others to eat up minutes especially since Markov has been getting a lot of ice time recently.

There was no trade.
