Biznasty for the 2011 All Star Game PHX (VOTE NOW)
There is a few threads around going with this info. It seems that everyone on the boards is in agreement, we will be voting for Bissonnette for the 2011 Allstar Game as fan choice player. Online fan voting will begin Nov. 15 and run through Jan. 3.
This whole vote some random player into the All-Star game thing is beyond played out. It was barely funny when Vote 4 Rory was going around much less now. IMHO it's just dumb at this point.
If the fans vote, the players go. Its as simple as that. I rather see him in the game so its something to watch rather then the boring event it usually is. He is a league fan favorite, not like the rory attempt to put some plug in.
I'm mostly ambivalent about all-star events, including these sorts of write-in campaigns, but I like the idea the league has floated about the two all-star "captains" picking the teams but for the starters, who fans vote in. I think that could add an interesting dynamic.

Any improvement is welcomed, i always had high hopes for the games but its always a big let down, and also No one wants to be in the in the allstar games they all want there break from hockey.
Actually when you think about it, the NHL all-star game isn't any more of a joke than other sports. They are all casual games with no meaning. Only the MLB can boast an all-star game that has implications.
That said I am very much intrigued by the new format, I like the idea of a couple of captains picking their teams and hopefully duking it out (as much as can be expected anyway).

They should go back to North America versus the World and play like it matters.

I think it's a lost cause to expect these guys to risk injury in a meaningless game. I'd rather they just acknowledge that it's ostensibly a vacation and dial up the spectacle. I want to see more skills on display, and much more showboating. The stuff that most players don't have a chance to do in regular games, and the stuff that makes Don Cherry's face match the color of his suits. Show me what makes these guys all-stars.
It would have been awesome if they got ahold of those guys when they tried calling.
