How long until Giroux gets the recognition he deserves?(What's his potential?)

I know he hasn't played too long at the NHL level yet but I think everyone in Philly and the Flyers' division knows how legit Giroux is. He has incredible patience and the moves he makes embarrasses goalies and defensemen on a regular basis. I'm just curious as to when (if at all) Giroux will be recognized as one of the top playmakers in the league. I personally believe if he continues to do as well as is this season then there's no doubt that he should be mentioned at the top of the list.

Here's a video I made, let's call it exhibit A:

Giroux has to break 70 points before he's mentioned as an all star caliber player. The past few years nobody would deny his ability, but his production was lacking. This year so far he's firing on all cylinders.

I'd say he's starting to get it. Everytime I turn on the NHL network they don't shut the **** up about him.

So... that's pretty sweet.

Giroux is the most all-around dangerous player on the Flyers roster.

Recognized by whom? Even Chico, Bob Errey and Jack Edwards have hard-ons for Giroux.

I feel like hes getting the recognition he deserves. He's breaking out, and people are noting him as such.

Hes not an Allstar yet. But if never lets up, he will be one this season...

Another highlight reel pops up every day for him on Youtube. (As you can see.)

I don't care what homers on the main forum think of him.

He gets more then his fair share of recognition. Everyone has a hard-on for him and he's being pretty much penciled in as an all-star despite never doing anything of note in the regular season.

He's doing find in the "recognition" department.

Interesting...by my count, five of his goals have been breakaways (or basically a 1-on-1 with the goalie).

I know. I was only half-serious.
I'm just not a fan of all the Toews hype.

I'm just curious, at what point do YOU give Giroux "recognition"?

Once he breaks his career highs (set in his first full season all of one year ago)? Will that do it?

I'm just asking because he's probably going to break his career high in both before the all star break.

Or are you still waiting for that cold streak to pop up?

I've never seen a fan be so miserable that one of the players on his favorite team was breaking out and becoming a star.

He has come to play every night and I could care less if he goes to the All-Star game. What is important is that he shows every night why he deserves to get the TOI he does, and that he makes everyone around him better by his play. The fact is he has shown this in the post-season and is now continuing his nightly production in the regular season. If you watch his play there is not a night where you do not see how good he is going to be and currently is.

Ah, okay then. I've been of the opinion that Toews is the most overrated player in the league ever since his Cup and Smythe win.

I already do? I recognize that he's a fantastic young player that has some great playoffs to his name, but some lackluster regular seasons as well.

I'll call him an all-star when he is actually an all-star.

Pure speculation. He might or he might not.

I very sincerely doubt that he'll continue on the pace he is, if that's what you mean.

I've been miserable about him? Please point out any post where I've said I don't like Giroux, where I've belittled what he has done, or where I haven't given him credit for what he's done. Go ahead, I dare you to find any post I've ever made about Giroux that shows that I don't like him.

I'll call him a star when he's actually a star. The part about breaking out and becoming a star is pure speculation on something that has yet to happen on your part.

So does ninety percent of the league and practically every fourth liner out there.

Nothing in your post suggests that he doesn't get enough recognition. You also always go around saying that Giroux makes his teammates better and that Carter doesn't despite having no proof for either of those things.

I think anyone not living under a rock knows who he is, one of the most exciting players in the league. He'll need at least a couple of seasons of serious point production before anyone can call him "elite". He is well on his way to that though.

Yea, he is on just one long ass hot streak If you cant see the difference between this season's Giroux and the last season and a half (not multiple for he only has played 1 1/2 seasons), then you might wanna stop staring at his 2008-2009, and 2009-2010 stats and start focusing on how he is playing now

But yea this thread is just another one, for the few people who think Giroux is overrated to ***** about him more.

Lumping in playoff stats with regular season stats totally makes sense.

So far, the biggest difference I've noticed is that he's gotten more then half his goals on lone breakaways. Another thing I've noticed is that it's only been 17 games.

Because being realistic is the same as *****ing in your mind.

I guess calling everyone here calling him a star already and being guaranteed for a breakout season a **** sucker is just as valid as saying that anyone being realistic is *****ing.

If you really don't think that Giroux gets the recognition he deserves then I have no clue what to tell you.
