Exactly. Look across the state and see two guys and a bunch of spare parts.

Honestly, who cares if he "took less", which is pretty much a crock. He got a guaranteed salary over the next eleven years, now it is time to ante up. He is getting paid to be a producer it is time to take his role on this team and show he is worth every penny, regular season and playoffs, this applies to Richards too. The GM has basically said they are two of the most vital pieces of this teams forwards, they have their contracts, now show the worth.

well because all he talks about is why we shouldn't re-sign him so maybe he'd give up now.

i know its not a perfect analogy but its mostly just wishful thinking

Well son of a *****. I was in Northern Liberties Saturday night and apparently I missed the party while I was there.

I think it really is just wishful thinking; it's only gonna get worse from here. I don't think people are gonna stop ragging on Carter just because he's locked up forever.

hockey players partying it up is not like other sports. They are usually decent canadian kids who didn't know life outside of hockey existed until after the were drafted. Oooh, he went out to a bar late. It's not like he's some player for the Lakers caught in a hotel room with 3 hookers and coke. If you are on time, and in shape, what he does on his own time doesn't matter.

If you just got 50 mil, what you do? go to bed early?

People hold athletes to too high of a moral standard, its quite annoying. Same goes for teachers, if I have kids I want teachers to be realistic with them, not to be brainwashed yuppy conformist *******, kids don't need that. Kids need some tough love, none of these little brats have any character anymore, they're just the same spoiled little **** in a different skin because the parents put them in a shielded bubble from the time they're born. I'm starting to rant, so I'll just stop now.

Yeah, it doesn't bother me at all. I've heard other rumors about how he treats people, and if so, fine, he's an *******, but I don't care.

As long as any player gets along with his teammates, shows up and gives his best effort, and the off-ice antics aren't going to get him in trouble with the team, league, or law, I don't care what a player does with their free time.

Yes, but I bring a flashlight so I can read under the sheets in case Mrs. Lemieux checks on me.

Since this is THE Carter thread, might just ask it here: Anyone else annoyed to the hell by the fact that Jeff has several chances per game to lay a huge hit on someone but just turns around and skates away?

Not having a good past 3 or so games, imo. He'll bring it back.

This. Powe threw some massive hits and pummeled Lappiere

I though Carter and G actually looked decent together for once.

Powe had a great game, exactly what you need from him. Zherdev was completely invisible except for him falling to the ice on the spin-o-rama. Carter was decent, he misses too many attempted passes and when not scoring brings little else and cannot play a physical game which is disappointing in games like this, but he is who he is, he did lead the team in shots.

Except he's on a scoring line and can't finish. He did a good job getting himself into good position for opportunities, and it's probably true than plugging a scorer in his spot wouldn't guarantee those opportunities because he's not afraid to go to the net, but he should be on the fourth line with the personnel we have.

Carter was pretty invisible most of the night, but a lot of guys were offensively. Pretty much the whole team.

It's kinda sad I'd rather have Nodl than Powe on a scoring line.
But Powe's type of play also suits the 4th line more than Nodl's.

But you need to put a guy like Powe on that line, there is not enough skill to go three lines. Powe does his job and fill in just fine IMO. This is part of the argument that has been had in regards to the farm system, they do not have anyone to really replace him and play at the NHL level, Wellwood is no better replacement, Nodl is still a fill-in type player(fringe 3rd or 4th liner) but I like Powe's willingness to play a physical game.

Carcillo is a 4th line player, Nodl and Powe are both fringe 3rd/4th line guys. At this point I would rather see Powe and Nodl starting over Zherdev who has been invisible on most shifts.

Parise's cap hit is 3.125 genius. And really 1.4m more for Kovalchuk is making us put "spare parts" on the ice.
