Exactly. Look, the Oilers players are trying to whip this into something big so that they can rally around it which is fair enough. But yeah its contrived rabble and just trying to get the troops motivated.

Nothing wrong with that.

But to come onto this board you'd think Avery is Dr. Satan at night..

Tempest in a teapot.

Its largely debating pts and with the arguments going to the end of the universe.

Probably not important.

Its a mystery to me that people so fervently try to convince rival team fans of anything at all.

Its the definition of pissing in the wind.

There should be a stickied thread on the NHL board containing the actual times rival fans agree on anything contentious..

I disagree with you on this from my experience watching hockey. A big hit didn't mean a fight until the last few years. There is no dishonour in hitting someone cleanly -- afterwards you tell your victimized linemate to keep his ****ing head up next shift and you go on with the game. It's a pet peeve of mine when the game stops every time someone lays someone out.

Anyways, I agree what Avery did was cheap and underhanded, and it doesn't excuse his actions.

Pissing in the wind should be defined as thinking 'rivals shouldn't disagree'

In regards to Burrows completely unprofessional comments. Does he condone cheapshots? Why is it so evident that him and Avery are divers. I find it funny that Savard is considered a fake artist when someone like Avery gets away scott free with his most recent antics.

I've noticed you're defending him but have you heard Avery's teammates recent comments regarding the situation?

"it looked like Sean hit him(Smid) when he wasn't looking."

Compare that to the classless comments by Burrows. How can anyone defend that?

Smid: "Let's go!"

Avery: "Next shift, next shift........"

Smid: turns to side.

Avery: "Psych!"
