Who's become our most important player?

Inspired from Markov's injury. There was a time when, if Markov went down, we knew we'd be under .500. It seems we've turned the page on that one from last year's playoffs and the beginning of this year. Who's that new guy? Plekanec? Cammalleri? Do people still think Markov? Or do we not have one and it's no longer a single player after our team-wide changes last summer? It would be interesting to see people's thoughts.

As much as I want to say Price, it's definitely Plekanec. The guy is simply unreal. He's one of the slickest players in the league. He makes everyone around him better. Almost every game I see him do something I've never seen another player do.

He is our leader.

I can give you a couple.

Most importantly and first and foremost is Price.

Then you have Plekanec.

Then on D you have a young Subban and Hamrlik playing really great hockey this year.

The team as a whole is playing a system and believing in it.

JM shuffling Gionta and Gomez away from each other was a turning point. I just wish Eller got more time with some legit offensive players, or a couple minutes more a game.

(You need to add a Price option, the guy is sick. Player of the week and a shutout to follow that up!)

carey without a doubt.

Pleky is our best player, but Carey is our most important, if that makes any sense.

Is there a difference between who's our most important player and who would we miss the most if he was injured? I'm considering them the same here.

Price is in a hot streak, but people should not forget how Plekanec has been money for us in the last 2 seasons... Both offensively and defensively.

If Carey goes down (knock on wood), we would definitely miss him.

No offense to Auld, but he's no long term solution to (knock on wood) possible goaltending issues.

I love Plekanec but let me play devil's advocate. If we were to shift Cammalleri to center and push another player on the wing, would we miss Plekanec as much as Price?

When Cammalleri went down, how did it affect our goal output? Would we miss Cammalleri more than Plekanec? Who'd score the goals?

It all starts with Price. If he doesn't play lights out like he has been, the position we are in the standings could be a whole lot different.

I believe Pleks is a very important player, if not the most important outside the crease...but Price is the the MVP.

Cammalleri does not have the hockey IQ and the vision that Plekanec has.. It's not even close. Cammalleri is a great finisher and can setup some goals, but Plekanec is a different type of player. He's a great two way player on top of that. He rarely makes mistakes.

It goes the other way too. Plek's contribution to our team's offense is among the best in the leagues, including Stamkos and Crosby. Actually, I think Plekanec is ranked 3rd in that aspect. Add his amazing work on the PK and it's truly an amazing feat.

Price is definitely the MVP of the last week or so. But Pleks has been unreal and has contributed to our team's offense and defense like this two seasons in a row now if we take this season into account. That's why I couldn't vote anybody else at the moment.

Gionta, AK.

Cammalleri needs Plekanec much more than the other way around.

Watch how Gionta is playing since he had Plekanec as his center, and watch how AK's production went down since he's playing with Gomez despite giving the same amount of effort.

I would say Price tied with Plekanec (can't win without scoring, nor without stopping the puck). Pleky is more than earning his salary, Price too, BUT, I voted team, because that's how we are built. Plex is important because he gets all the other guys going. So many key plays by other players allow the W. Team all the way but obviously grand chapeau à Gangsta and the Cowboy.

Well I think any goalie would have done a good job for the habs ( probably not as good as price tho).Lettuce be reality , habs have a underrated D core + most of our top player are really good 2-way player ( plekanec , gomez , gionta, ect ) + Head coach is a defensif specialist...........It's not a coincidence that Halak , Price and even Auld looked good in front of this team.

That why my vote go to plekanec.

Carey has been nothing less than stellar since the begin of the season, he is the best goaltender in the league at the moment IMO.. Pleks coming second..

Price is in the same category as Crosby, or our OV.. He can make the difference every games.. Actually he looks unbeatable, its unreal what he is doing..

I voted Plekanec, as he is the most important skater on this team by a country mile right now.

That said, good or bad, whoever is in net is really the most important player. Price, or even Auld.

It's the nature of the sport. It's the only position where one guy having an off or on night 100% rewrites the game.
