Firing on all cyclinders

Our club is really on one heck of a roll at the moment, Seems Lavy has done one heck of a job teaching his system and getting this team in great physical shape to play his hi speed game.
Cannot help but notice that our early penalty problems have seemed to be held in check, Harts has really cleaned up his act as far as bad penalties and has played well.

Girouix and Ritchie are incredible at causing havoc in and near the neutral zone especially during the PK, resulting in timely turnovers and breakaways .Ritchies shorty on the back hand tonight was excellent. These two play really well together !

Our defense has looked great, they trust Bob and do a good job at letting him see the first shot so he can do his thing.Timmo has looked really good lately, Mez continues to be steady, and Pronger is the ultimate pro as usual.

Bob has been just fantastic and has done everything with a tremendous sense of humility and poise. You can tell he has a great relationship going with our D men, he lets them know when they do a good job blocking a shot etc.

JVR is still a question mark of sorts, still not a 100% sure if he is just a little snake bitten and just needs a nice goal to get his confidence rolling, or if perhaps maybe he just is not the player many have thought he was or would become ? Sure would have liked to seen that one he pinged off the pipe go in, maybe he will break out against the Habs tonight.

Overall there really is not much not to like about how the Flyers are playing. Great offense, defense, goal tending and coaching.I like what this team looks like when its firing on all cylinders !

Your post was fine untill this point. Not the player that we thought he would become? He's having a tough time to start the year, not uncommon for 90% of players in their second season. Just have a little damn patience.

I agree with you about 90% of 2nd year players, and i am hoping JVR can get his confidence going soon.I suppose my thinking about the player " he would become " is more based on how good he looked in the preseason where he was flying around the ice, scored some goals and his confidence seemed abundant.I like the kid, and i hope he starts showing more consistent flashes of what we all expected when he was drafted 2nd.
What is in his favor at the moment is our club is playing well even though he has not.If we were losing a lot i think his play would get even more scrutiny, i hope he can take advantage of his situation....He might bang in 2 tonight against the Habs and start rolling.

Difficult to say it's a sophomore slump when he's been slumping since early last season.

Regardless of the Gagne and Shelley stuff, Holmgren made a good to get Meszaros and O'Donnell and solidify the defense, and having Bob fall into their laps due to injury was luck, but sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. Outside of really Gagne, they kept the same offensive team around. It's not surprise they are playing so well, but I'm amazed that there was barely any slump leading up to this point.

JVR is 21. He's in his second full year of professional hockey.

Jesus Christ.

The team has enough talent that they should be pretty decent under any coach but having a real coach is pretty damn awesome.

Our well drafted players are playing great and are really gelling around our well-researched UFA signings with our superbly-chosen new coach. Probably lucky though.

Hope Philly is firing on all cylinders and is injury free in May. That'd be awesome.

I'm hoping for Laviolette to use this blowout to challenge the team to another streak.

This jinx though...

I doubt this type thread has any effect on anything as far as how a club plays. The Flyers played good again tonight overall, a few crazy calls and an extremely hot goalie in Price did us in tonight. We had 40 + shots tonight and got shut out. That happens in hockey.

look guys, let's be rational and levelheaded about this jinx thread. we all know that the only real, acceptable course of action is to BAN SGT JOSEPH NOW.

lets not risk it if we get hot again? We can all just be quiet and ride the win column

I will give myself a a game misconduct and refrain from any comments for one game. LOL [ even though i think we are still firing on all cylinders, just ran into a very hot goalie tonight].
