Plekanec and price. I'd think Plekanec more cuz while a goalie may get hot for a couple games, without Plekanec on ES, PP, PK, we're in trouble. It's really hard to say though, i'm pretty sure we're screwed without both.

Last year, Plekanec was our MVP during the regular season. I think it's debatable whether he or Price is our MVP, but right now I'd give the edge to Price.
The kid has been amazing. He's the most used goalie in the NHL, his stats 17 Games in are simply remarkable.

I don't think it's fair to ask us that question though, not for our team.
Obviously, I don't think we would be anywhere close to where we are today if we didn't have Plekanec. Likewise, if Price wasn't there. Likewise if Subban wasn't there. Likewise if Gorges wasn't there..etc..
The reason we are playing so well is because we do it as a complete team. It's not just about one player, or one line, it's the whole team. That's the concept Martin wanted to install here and did so brilliantly so far.

It's not like Pittsburgh where you could attribute most of the success to one player.

So ultimately, the player that has the most impressive stats will be the one regarded as MVP, and right now Price definitely leads in that category.

This is Montreal, it is always the goalie. Price has given us a chance to win every game.

Plekanec is a great 2 way player...easily our best skater and its not even close but I have to go with Price. We are winning games we should not because of him. I can't fault anyone for saying Plekanec though. These are our co-MVP's right now!

Plekanec. Price is a great goalie, and without him the team wouldn't be where it is now, but Plekanec does so much on the ice there's no one on the team right now that's more important than he is.

He's also becoming pretty entertaining with some sick moves he's been pulling lately.

Subban is nowhere near as effective as the first two. Not yet at least.

I think it has become a 1a and 1b situation.

Pleks and Price, take your pick.

The goalie now Price, which has always been the most important player on the Habs for a really long time. When the goalie is on his game,we can beat anyone in the league and it's been proven for the last 40+ years

I'd say Price = Plekanec is the real option

Reason I say that is because Price takes care of the goaltending aspect of our teams game (duh) but I find Plekanec fills every other role available (aside from being a D lol) and he does it magically.

These two guys are guys teams are built around.

we survived without MArkov, who was, I thought, our most important player. We won when Auld was in the net but Price could very well be our most important player too. Plekanec is awesome too.

So, I voted that it's now a team.

Price is 1st then Plekanec, Markov is 3rd...with Markov out, Hamrlik is 3rd because he wears so many different hats.

I can't pick between Price + Plekanec.

I'm going to go with the team though because top to bottom, this team is VERY solid when they are on their game.

Without Plekanec, we would lose a lot more games. Can you imagine... Without Price we'd be in trouble, but not nearly as much as without Plekanec.

Most important:
1. Price
2. Plekanec
3. Markov
4. Cammalleri

The best offensive player: Cammalleri (think about his 13 goals in 19 playoffs games).

For yearsss, I've kept saying that Markov is our best player. It's now no longer the case.

Pretty much my opinion, although I think Price is the MVP right now. What he's done this year, facing this pressure, is simply unbelievable. I hope he converts that into a stellar playoff performance down the road, but all signs say yes. Ça sent la coupe.

Good question.
It's hard to choose between Plekanec and Price. I vote for Plekanec but it could be one or other.

That why my vote go to plekanec.

I think myself that cabbages should be reality, but that's just my opinion.

lol @ people suggesting Pleks and Price are a tie.

If Pleks goes down for the rest of the season, we can still squeak into the playoffs.

If Price goes down for the rest of the season, the year is over.

Price >>>>>>> Pleks ainec

Fairly interesting opinion. Price is playing wonderfully (love seeing all the complete 60 minute chunks of concentration and movement control from him so far this year), but without Plekanec in this lineup we have all the offensive AND defensive responsibilities on Gomez. I'm sorry, but when your best defensive forward is also your best offensive forward - and he plays at the level Tom has been - I have no problem elevating his "importance" above the goaltender.

I still subscribe to the fundamental that the goaltender is the most important position on the ice. But looking at this Habs team and the type game it plays, I think the 1st line ES/PP/PK'er who seems to be the only one catalyzing any offense from our struggling wingers and who is absolutely the lynch pin forward on defense (which allows guys like Pyatt to keep it simple and be effective) is possibly more important to the overall scheme than whoever is in nets... even if someone playing like Price is probably gives you a good extra 5-10 points on the season over someone like Auld or Average Joe NHL starter.

Of course, this is all in the absence of Markov - who would otherwise be the obvious best choice. When healthy, still by far the best player on the team AND most important.

My two picks would be Price and Plekanec, but if I had to choose between either one of them, it'd have to be Price for me.

I think that with the current situation, with Markov being out, you need to really look at how important Subban is to our team. Without Subban, there is no one to start up the transition game and we're stuck in our zone.

With that said, he's still not as important as Plekanec and Price since they've played lights out since the start of the season.

If I had to pick one, it'd be Price though.
