Could be a very nice 4th liner, especially as he develops.
I'll be surprised if he clears waivers.

well this is rather humourous. He's AHL bound...so White for Babchuk and Kostopoulous then Brodie takes that F spot abandoned

I'd laugh if he was claimed by the flames

Wow.

Talk about really screwing your son.

Sutter trades his son, only to have him waived and left in the complete abyss of uncertainty. Hahah. Rediculous.

Pops probably couldn't bear the thought of waiving his own blood.

Better to let someone else do that.

Tough position to be in

While Brett Sutter has had his moments (most of them this year), if it wasn't for his father, he probably wouldn't even be playing in the NHL right now.

So Sutter trades his son, only to have the other team send him through waivers and back to the minors?

I wouldn't mind Leafs claiming him. I'd rather have Sutter than John ****ing Mitchell.

Canucks need forward depth, especially centers. Releasing him into a populated area seems iffy, though.

I'd claim Sutter if I were the Oilers. Just for the lols. And I'd tell him to try to fight Iginla. Either way it's a lose lose situation.

Not much of a surprise here. The Canes already had 1 guy in the press box each night (Tlusty or O'Sullvian). They picked up Bodie and Sutter and lost TKO..so unless someone goes to Charlotte, there'd be two guys in the press box.

I still think there will be one more guy down to Charlotte which would require Waivers (Probably O'Sullivan).

What on earth is going on?

Trade for him, only to waive him?

Guess Car they felt he had to be taken as part of the deal to get White....

Flames can't claim him I don't think? Remember when Dean McAmmond was traded to Colorado, then put on waivers and re-claimed by the Flames? He was ineligible to play for them, I'm pretty sure that season.

Probably, but in order to send him to the AHL (where he gets paid an AHL salary), they need to put him on Waivers first. The Canes already had 1 forward in the press box each night so there is no room for him on the NHL squad.

He has to pass through waivers in order to be assigned to the 'A in the first place. This is only so he can be sent down to play in Charlotte, since, as Boom Boom Anton mentioned, the press box would be getting full otherwise.

This is true.

I wouldnt want to do it either, but I'd rather waive him myself than make him feel like two teams dont want him by trading him THEN having him waived. Haha

Regardless, this kid has to feeling a little down right about now.

I would have just rather waived him myself than him feel completely unwanted by 2 teams.

Yeah, this is the most desirable outcome to finish the story.
