Weber just got called up...do you think he could be dressed tonight?

Nop, I think he'll stay a 7th d unless someone else gets injured. Picard is playing decent and I'd keep him in the lineup until he starts sucking.

I'd doubt he plays tonight, but you never know. I suspect he gets a few days to practice with the PP, then slots in the first time it goes cold.

That said, while they scored twice, neither goal seemed to me to be as a result of a well executed power play, but rather one being a 5-on-3 brain cramp and the other being a set of nice bounces.

The PP, in all honesty, looked horrible against Philly.

Another possibility: Gorges is more hurt than was let on.

Should let Hal Gill rest so he can be ready for more starts.

Gill isn't a goalie.

Bench Spacek.

Seriously, it's probably just a precautionary ? Gorges could be hurt. If it's just to sit him as the 7th d, that's kind of dumb.

I like what Picard has done for us but I'd really like for Weber to get a chance. I'd like to see what he can do offensively for us on the PP.

Let the two of them battle it out. Besides Weber first game in training camp, I was positively impressed with his play the rest of the camp and he could be of use to us considering what he's been doing in Hamilton.

I also wouldn't understand the decision to recall him only to have him sit on the bench. What would be the point of that, we could have just recalled Henry if that had been the goal. I don't know..

I've been among the more vocal Spacek bashers, but I have not a bad thing to say about his game over the last 7-8 games.

Unless he returns to brain cramp ville, he more than deserves his spot in the line-up.

Even with the goals last game, the powerplay looks awful.
I think Picard is a capable defenseman, but I'd take a shot with Weber. He's playing really well in Hamilton and we could use his shot on the point.

Halpern's a game-time decision. Maybe Martin intends to stick Weber in as a fourth-line forward and use him on the PP? The ghost of Carbo lives!

Big news. Hope Gorges is okay. I suspect we'll see Weber dressed as a 7th d his fist game or two, regardless of how JM hopes to use him long term. But if Gorges isn't okay then it's straight into the fire.

Good luck Yanik! It's the right time for him to see if can stick in the NHL.

Agreed.

Spacek has been quite good lately.

LOL - In what strange universe would they call up a defender to replace a forward? I suspect White or Desharnais or someone is just as capable of driving to the airport as Weber.

Plus, there is always Dustin Boyd

Exactly, he was awful to start the season, but he's settled down more than adequately. Frankly, for all the complaints we've heard the other way, Spacek's been asked to do more and has delivered more for the Habs than Beauchemin has for the Leafs. Credit where it's due.

Well, hey, it wouldn't be the first time the Habs used a D at forward, just for the sake of having the PP shot. Streit, MAB...Weber?

That's my feeling too. Just to make sure he's available should they need him.

He's tough, but got clocked pretty good last game

I can't see a scenario where Weber would play. I don't know who I'd sit at this point.

Why is it dumb to have 7 d-men available?

Benching Spacek would be dumb, the last couple weeks he's playing about as well as hge ever has as a Hab.

Weber was pretty mediocre is his last few call ups... Hopefully this time he proves he belongs here. We want Streit II!!
