I can't see a scenario where Weber would play. I don't know who I'd sit at this point.
I know he's the it kid in town right now, but I think anyone being halfway honest with themselves who it's Picard who sits if they want Weber in and also want to dress only six D.
That said, I agree. Barring injury, I suspect we see no line-up changes until a loss.

Does NO ONE remember the playoffs against the Bruins?
He was very effective at the end of that season and in the playoffs.
I would have recalled Bonneau and Conboy for Monday nights game against the Flyers and tell them to run at Richards, Briere, Carter and any other good Flyers players. Maybe they'd shut up about Subban after that!! LOL.
I'd say Weber will only dress if Gorges needs a night off. If Gorges plays, we won't see Weber in the lineup for a while, if at all.
the guy can do nothing but shoot from the point. very poor defensively.
Just out of curiosity, have you watched a single AHL game this year?
Not going to deny what you said, I have not seen enough AHL action this year to have a very informed opinion either, but I'd imagine the team recalled him specifically for a reason.
He'll never be Chara back there, but from what I've seen over the years in Montreal and Hamilton, I don't think he's MAB 2.0 either.

No....Weber is 10 times the defencemen that Bergeron is!!! Weber needs playing time....and he needs top icetime too in order to produce. He can't play 3rd pairing minutes and be expected to produce. He likely plays in the top pairing or at least the top 4 in Hamilton, he needs roughly the same icetime and responsibility in order to play his best.

Apparently the -5 rating happened in the span of 3-4 bad games in a row, and he just hasn't been able to bring that number back up. It should be noted also that the Bulldogs have had a really hard time getting 5-5 on goals lately so it's his negative rating has more to do with how the team is playing than how he's playing.
I'd still love to know why exactly he got called up right now, though. Smart money is its for precautionary reasons, but I'm really hoping they begin Streit-like project with him. I'm still not convinced we can keep that PP clicking with only Subban with a good shot from the point. Weber would give them much needed versatility back there, another weapon that the defences would have to adjust to.
Also, I can forgiven -5 from a guy that has 8 goals.
8 - 5 = 3.
PP time doesn't count on that stat, which is partly why it isn't an entirely fair measure.
Its a measure of how good you are 5 on 5 which is the way the game is played most of the time. I've seen all home games this year and unless the Habs are using Weber because of waiver issues they didn't pick the best dman in Hamilton.

Then they send Pow, Harnell, Shelley and co to take runs at Plekanec, Price, Pk, cammy etc
As the old saying goes "don't get in a pissing match with a skunk". Phillie is probably the dirties team in the NHL.

Fair enough, glad we can hear from someone who sees him.
Out of curiosity, who is better right now? You mentioned waivers, any waiver eligible guy in the AHL has already cleared once this year (and none are subject to recall waivers that I know of).
I now believe the team either plans to use him, or thinks Gorges being out is possible.
Why?
Teams NEVER call guys up before 5pm unless they have to. They now have to pay him an NHL salary today, which means he counts more against the cap than he would if called up at 5:01pm (officially he wouldn't count until tomorrow).
It sounds absurd, but that's become a pretty common practice.
If they were just calling him to be our 7th D, they'd have likely waited until 5pm.

True, and yet Martin has only talked about Halpern being a potential scratch for tonight's game. I can't remember the last time a D-man was called up under circumstances like this. Gorges practiced this morning, no? Been listening to Team 990 all day, and there hasn't even been a speck of talk of him missing tonight's game. It's all very curious...

I would have given Picard some PP time and maybe use the call up on White if Halpern is out for a bit. Weber is below average on D. Anyways we'll see this time around, maybe he's cleaned up his defensive game and put some muscle on.

Weber can play fourth line forward and take the blueline on PP. They have done it before.

IMO Carle is better right now and St. Denis is as good. I know neither possess the shot Weber has, I'm talking as puck moving dmen and they are better play makers. As for waivers I never totally understood how it works. I only know from reading boards that Weber is the only guy that doesn't have to worry about them other than the two rookies and neither of them are close yet.

They have way too many tough guys for us, so ya, it's not worth getting into a pissing match with them. Except, White/Henry could have helped our situation so Lapierre doesn't make a fool of himself. Also, we don't want Subban getting penalties because he has to take care of stuff himself.

I agree with this. No reason to try to play it Phillys way as of yet. Nothing that major has happened anyways, and in any case they do have more tough guys. That said, I would like to see Montreal get a couple tough guys who can chip in the odd goal once in a while. Having a policeman does not always help but it doesnt always hurt either. I wouldnt rush to do this right now though.

The best would be to wait at the deadline (a rental).
