its the first thing I thought of when it was announced Bobrovsky gets the start tonight. The team nor the coach have zero confidence in Boucher.

He's pretty good in terms of two-way play. Hard, accurate shot, decent puck-moving ability, a big body, and smart defensively. He just doesn't seem like the kind of guy that can anchor a top pairing though or possibly even a second pairing. That's what I'm guessing his biggest problem in Tampa was, being relied upon too much. The better coaching and management (until this season I guess now that they have Boucher and Yzerman) probably helps too.

Meszaros I could possibly see anchoring a second pairing. Carle, I cannot. That, along with Meszaros' better two-way play, makes Meszaros superior to Carle in my eyes. For now at least. Still relatively early in the season.

I am impressed with Meszaros but you could take the comparison and say that given equal opportunity you would probably end up with the same results, each has their faults and shortcomings. If you combined the two you could have a legit #1 d-man at 25 y/o, but intead we have a nice 2nd and 3rd pairing type d-men. If you give Meszaros more minutes matched up against the Crosby's and Malkin's of the NHL he would get exposed for certain things much like Carle gets exposed for his lack of size.

I feel bad for Boucher, he has been a company guy, but it is the right decision and the right thing for Boucher to do is to give his full support which I am sure he is doing. He is pretty much guaranteed a job with the team.

I agree with you, for the life of me i cannot understand all the worry about Bob burning out.How bout Ritchie ? Prongs ? Mez ? Timmo ?Girouix ? Coburn ? Harts ? etc.....Boosh will need some work soon, but not because BOB is burning out etc....That kid loves his job, it is his passion etc, its just that simple.I wonder sometimes if the folks who worry about BOB being tired have ever worked hard 8 hours a day 5 days a week for years on end.

Dude, comparing Bob to skaters is like night and day. Pronger could log more than anyone else on either team and still only being playing half the minutes Bob would be. Sometimes exhaustion can catch up with passion and, given the circumstances surrounding Bob (being a rookie, in a new place, with a language barrier, in the toughest league in the world with the best players in the world, who will be turning it up as the season progresses), it's not outrageous to think he needs rest.

I mean, really...what's the worst that could happen resting him?

Why would you think that? No reason to think that. Flyers did not look bad against Habs. They actually looked good in that game considering it was back to back they played 4 games in 6 nights. Effort was there, skating was there we just got beat by a hot goalie.

We actually played quite well last year during the awful streak, we just seemed to get stoned by every single keeper in the league.

Facts. The line opposing goalies put up against us, particularly backups, was insane.

it's true. there were a lot of games where the offense didn't look good, but there were also a lot where they looked great and the goaltenders looked better. It was a perfect storm.

Meszaros couldn't be the go-to guy as a defenseman, that was his issue.

Meszaros is anchoring his own pairing, so if one says he and Carle are even, Meszaros gets the nod for that alone, while Carle has to get Pronger
