What's your go-to breakaway move?

Do you shoot? Do you deke? Do you panic? What is it? Where do you go?

I prefer to come in and go high glove on most goalies once I get in really close. Sometimes it's not there so I'll kickstart the motor, fake going backhand (I'm a righty) and once they open up the top corner, go there.

Since most goalies I play again aren't great moving goalies, I go side to side to get them to open the five hole and snipe it.

Like this.

Yeah that. Basically I make it look like I am going to go forehand and go to my backhand at the last second.

Hey, works for me

Try to get him moving left to right then put it right in his stomach :p

My only success is a quick leg kick and then glove side right under the bar, anything else and I screw it up.

Every shootout move I do I start skating a few strides down the right side( I'm a right hander) then I quickly turn and crossover and go completely across the ice and head down the left wing. I got this from watching a feature on Kristain Huselius and he said he likes to get the goalie moving side to side to start to throw him off. Does it work? I have no idea but it sounds good in theory.

Then my go to move is a leg kick to try to tell a shot, go to the backhand and try to sell it and then quickly pull it to my forehand and either try to stuff it if there's room or attempt to lift it over the pad if he has the post covered.

A funny story about this move and shootouts. Over the last 6 months or so I have faced this one goalie in shootouts literally about 6 times and I have scored on him every single time using this move. By now I'm sure he knows it's coming. So this last time I came in like I always do leg kick, backhand to forehand except this time at the last second I brought it back to my backhand. I almost did too many moves and got myself all tangled up. But the goalie bought it hook, line and sinker. I head him say "Oh ****!" when I went back to the backhand. I was off balance and could only muster a dinky little backhand but I literally had the whole net open so it didn't matter. Pretty good feeling when you outsmart the goalie.

With lots of speed:

Forehand deke to back hand and then upstairs (where Norman Bates keeps his mother)

I'm not the most skilled puck handler (to put it nicely) so I like to keep it simple. Come in very slightly to the right (my right) of the goalie, fake shot with a leg kick, bring it backhand, and put it as high up as I can. Doesn't sound (or look) like much but when timed right it's pretty effective. And that's about 1/3 of my planned moves anyway lol

Fake shot and then try to drill a hole through his chest.

I try to come in more towards the right side of the net, and slowly drift over towards the left. I keep my stick further away from my body than I normally would, and once the goalie follows me and opens up some space on his glove side I'll put it about 2 feet up near the post, or high glove. I'm a pure shooter, can't deke for my life.

Once I got a breakaway and faked a shot, knowing the goalie would assume I'd shoot. And got him to commit fully to it, I moved around him as he scrambeled to stay with me...then lost the damn puck before I could put it in on the basically empty net. Deking/puck control ain't my best attribute.

EDIT: Should mention that I'm RH shot so my 'move' makes more sense.

I'm right handed and either come in reasonably close and snipe the top right corner (from my POV) or I fake a shot on the forehand to freeze the goalie and immediately deke backhand.

I generally never deke (played D all my life, don't have the fancy hands for that one).

Depending on the goalie but it's always one of three moves, all with me skating down the left wing (I'm a righty):

- Get in close, try to get the goalie to open up and slide it under
- Go far side high (so right top corner)
- Drag the puck in quickly and go top left

That's the order of how often I use each, I almost never use the last move unless I'm having a rough night hitting the top right

I come at the net full speed and try to shoot high glove side (righty) while skating. If I'm confident, i try the no-look shot where i stare at the left corner and try to synchronize my shot to release it when the goalie has his weight on his left leg so he can't even push on his right leg. When it's done correctly, the goalie won't even move.

Stutter step into a hard wrist shot. I find this usually freezes the goalie just enough for me to find a hole.

Otherwise, I love just going in and hammering a slap shot, attempt to kill the goalie.

(Left shot)
Skate in rather slow, Go on the heal of my left skate, and push the puck forward on my forhand, then quickly turn on my skates and switch to backhand and Roof it.

My go-to move is getting too excited and leaving the puck behind at the blue line.

I deke a little and go back hand or right at the hash marks i take a wrist shot glove side. plus it goes on how good the goalie is. Most time i end up with a penalty shot.

I don't have great hands, but I will skate in on the left if I can, head diagonally, head fake and take a "stab" or fake with my foot towards the right, go backhand to forehand, and shoot usually top left.

It doesn't look as good as it sounds trust me. I have only used it once, but it's my go to move. I never really get one on one's...

I skate to the left of the net and to the hash-marks then start dragging the puck right for the backhand then I realize that I suck and move to the corner and look for someone who can shoot to pass to.

I'm a realist.

Sometimes goalies are quick and I dont have the quickest hands so I pull it back forehand as such:
