I sure hope it's only up to 8 weeks!! Thanks for the info!

His quote is from Yahoo fantasy hockey's "advice" on Markov. The report his quote is referring to is the one from Sportsnet using Tony Marinaro as the source. Nothing new there.

And considering you were at a conference with the actual Canadiens team doctor...I'm more inclined to believe you.

I guess it all depends on if he has the surgery or not. Anyone know when he's meeting with the Cleveland doctor? I heard it might be today?

Makes sense...I looked at the reply over and over again and I don't see where his knee buckled or twisted to have caused a tear. A sprain is what I always thought was going to be the outcome, even when he was taken off the ice he put 'some' weight on his knee, had he torn the ACL, he wouldn't of been able to do that.

Let's just hope it's just a sprain...8-10 weeks would be a near Godsend at this point.

Putting weight on it means nothin. Tom brady walked off the field after he oblitterated his knee 2 years ago.

That was an MCL injury I think.

"Looks like a sprain"? How is that determined?

But nonetheless and even if he's out 8 weeks it still puts the team in a major quandary. How effective is he going to be given he will then have played how much hockey in the last two years? I mean each time he's out I would think it's going to be more difficult to get back in the flow. And how long before something else happens? He came back this time but didn't collect the Markov like points he did before when coming back.

Markov is/was a great player and I wish I could get excited about him coming back but he's become such an unknown. Knees scare me too much I guess.

Brady shredded his acl and mcl. He was up walking around wh it happened so putting weight on the knee doesn't mean a whole lot.

Agreed.........and Markov tried to skate last year after injury during the Pittsburgh series before it was determined he was done. Walking in a straight line is a comfort zone. Pivoting, twisting and moving laterally is a whole other story.

Different type of impact/injury than what this collision with Staal was...either way, i'm just hoping it's a sprain, but no one knows at this point. I just don't see how given that impact, that he could of tore his ACL again.

But that's just from my point of view which doesn't mean anything

Doubt the Isles are going to move him with Streit out for so long. At least, not until the deadline when they know they're out of it for good.

Keep in mind after an original ACL tear, any small damage can force surgery and that is probably the reason why everyone is so tight lipped about it.

He lost all credibility when he said Markov was close to re-signing a deal. Markov's agent shut him up lol.

I think they replaced the old ligament with a new one...sort of like Tommy John surgery. So the old injury has no bearing on the new one.

Thats what happens when you come back to early from a serious injury like that. Im surprized that this isnt being thought of like a career ending injury.
