Hopefully we can take advantage of the fact that they are playing tonight against Calgary.

That brings up a bit of a dilemma. I hate Calgary far more than I hate Chicago and love nothing more than watching Calgary get buried and miss the playoffs. However I would also like to see Vancouver finish as high in the standings as possible.

Who to root for tonight in tonights game I'm not sure. It's like Calgary playing Toronto.

^I would root for Chicago, actually. Teams that lose the first half of a back to back come out looking for redemption the next night.

Regardless of who wins tonight, the Canucks need to bring it tomorrow.

Can't see us dropping this one with time off (and Chicago plays tonight) plus we'll probably bounce back after the crap performance in Pittsburgh; especially at home.

I think there might be some changes to the line-up beyong inserting Perrault. Raymond, for example, is banged up. Ballard>Rome?

Oh god, let Ballard play... he's not going to develop any chemistry with his defense partner by sitting in the press box.

I think this is a team the Canucks need to play. One of the problems with the regular season is that you play teams you don't really care to play hard against. I think the Canucks need a good stretch against teams they really care to play against.

This game will/should mean far more to Vancouver than the Hawks.

Agreed. The Nucks need to come out hard and bury the chances they get early.

This means that the twins can't be cute early in the game on Saturday. Take the puck to the net and Henrik better shoot the puck if he's in a good shooting spot.

Any word on whether it'll be Turco or Crawford in net? They tend to alternate on back to backs, I guess it'll depend who plays tonight.

I think Crawford is the better goalie, but Turco seems to play us well...Crawford is a big bodied guy, plays well for a rookie.

Yeah I'd be dissapointed if the Canucks don't come out with a good effort in this game. If they're not amped up to beat Chicago, I don't know what it will take. At home, Chicago coming off a back-to-back, with what should be a desperate team in Calgary, there is no excuse for not dictating the play right out of the gate.

I am really concerned about this game.

Dustin Byflugien seems to be able to get inside Luongo's head an none of our D look capable of handling him.

Niemi seems to have the knack of coming up with the big save just when it is needed.

Andrew Ladd gets Kesler off his game and if there is another fight down goes Kesler due to that coward

Chris Versteeg has been a Canucks killer with timely goals and as tough to play against for the Sedins.

Ben Eager drove the Canucks crazy and delivered some big hits while being hard on the forecheck.

John Madden anchored a penalty kill that pretty much shutdown the Canucks PP.

Brent Sopel is a shot blocking machine and has been a solid defensive Dman.

Even Colin Fraser and Adam Burish gave the Canucks fits.

Oh wait...

It's really a shame that Bolduc is injured and won't get a chance to exact some revenge on John Scott. I'm pretty sure he was hoping for that oppourtunity based on how close the fight was last time they played.

I would appreciate the Hawks get all their goals out of the way tonight an destroy the Flames. Then we crush them tomorrow. Thanks.

If it is Friday it must be...

Live Canucks chat: Friday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m.
Baby, it's cold outside. Why not laze around the house or office and talk to our hockey experts about Saturday's big game against Chicago? We'll have most hands on deck (JJ Adams steps in as moderator, and Jason Botchford, Tony Gallagher and Jim Jamieson are expected) at 2 p.m. Join us!

When I think about this game I realise that it is the only opponent I get emotional about in an irrational and adrenaline pumped way. If they don't win this game then all talk about cup contending must be put aside 'til 2nd round - if it happens. there is not any excuse other than being the worse team if the team lose this game.

The Gollum asks - are the Blackhawks going to burn out their core players due to lack of depth?

Joel Quenneville - what me worry?

Some interesting ice time stats in the article and of course Gallagher cannot resist his obligatory drive-by shooting of Alain Vigneault:
...but it does prompt one to ask why Daniel Sedin doesn't play as much as the likes of Matt Cullen, Blake Comeau, Matt Moulson, Ryan Callahan or even the prehistoric Daniel Alfredsson and Ryan Smyth, the last-named with all the same travel concerns.

The interview's not remarkable enough for its own thread, but I found it amusing so I'll post it here (there's some talk about the game).

Botchford: You want to score more. How do you make that happen?
Samuelsson: ...I work on my shot every day.
Botchford: That's what you've been doing? Working on your shot?
Samuelsson: Actually, no, not really.

Man Samuelsson is the best in NHL at giving interviews. His first with the Canucks was epic too. Everyone in that clip was SO excited about the new locker room, with all the other rooms and fluff, it was SO exclusive. Samuelsson: " Naaahhh, its the NHL, they are supposed to look this way".

Ollie Jokinens face with the talk of Samuelsson would be 5/5

LOL....He really seems like he's trying hard to give the "canned answers" but his brain just doesn't want to do it so he struggles.

I really hope he goes into coaching when he's done. The press conferences would be amazing.

The best Samuelsson interview is still this one. I'm trying to figure out who gives him the sarcastic congrats right at the end, I'm thinking it must be Kesler or SOB
