Not buying that specific rumor. But a trade is coming. Clear as day.

Didn't DL trade Conroy to Calgary a day before we versed them? I think he even scored a hatty against us, hmm...

So, Sturm? What's his deal this year?

Hey kids, finally at a computer - My twitter wouldn't tweet from Down Under so I sent Ek a text (which did work) - My source says it's close (like e4 close). Hopefully happens soon. Can't talk about players involved (even in PM, sorry) but look to Manchester as Boston needs to clear cap room.

Hint: Lombardi grabbed him in the draft before Boston could.

Sounds like Hickey.

Obviously Hickey is too big of a piece to be moved for Sturm. So what are we thinking, Wheeler?

If anything, I'm guessing Hickey for Wheeler.

Me, I would wait until after the game but thats just me.
Or when we got Yushkevich from Florida for Bednar and Lilja and Bednar scored against us the next day.

If it were to be Hickey being dealt then we would be getting a solid player back in return. Some of us here may have varying opinions of him but his value around the league is still considerable and rightly so.

Thinking the same thing. I know they want to get rid of Ryder too but no way will DL give up Hickey for him atleast I hope.

Yeah, it's gotta be someone more like Wheeler, if Hickey is going the other way.

That was classic.

I actually knew Deano K back then and had his lamanant around my neck (wanted to eat at the forum club before the game). I had just got in line for the old dark meat buffet when DK came rushing in and said "I got dealt". He looked panicked but it worked out well for everyone in the end.

During that game he got his bell rung but played though it. He was a really good guy.

even though it would be "overpayment", which I agree with, it's not that obvious...

BW plays all three forward positions. He'd be a really good pick up for us. He isn't going to come in and put up 30 goals on LW for us this year but he uses his size pretty well and could be a key guy to making room up front and bagging 20 + without too much worry at all.

I like him. Of course, I would want us to get Krejci as that would be about all we need in my opinion but that is just me.

So it would be interesting if Sturm *and* Wheeler came our way for a couple of young players.

Just a guess? I thought about that possibility, as well...

Wheelers numbers aren't super, do you think he'd be that big of an upgrade? Didn't he have attitude problems?

Wheeler for Hickey would be so great just for the parallels.

Well Ryder is a RW, Wheeler is a RW....we need a LW. Wheeler makes 2.2 and Ryder 4 mil.

Another interesting thing I just remembered. DL said something not too long ago about teams waiting till about the 20 game mark(to assess the team) to make trades. He said something might open up around there. I think it was off of lakingsinsider.com a month or so ago.

If we do make a move before the trade deadline, I believe it would be within the next week or two.

I would think Wheeler would be the guy if he can play all forward positions...even though he shoots right. He only makes 2 million, he is big and just coming into his own. The only guy worth giving up young talent for...Ryder is older and overpaid and a RW, Sturm is hurt....I don't know who else they would dangle...

One thing's for sure, our first line just hasn't consistently produced yet this season. Good thing the geezer line is firing on all cylinders and making them look bad.

Wheeler does play all 3 positions. He was on the left wing on Krejci's line (with Ryder) his first season, and that was pretty effective. Right now he's playing Center because Krejci is out, and doing fairly well at that. That was something that was attempted during training camp with Savard out, the thought was to put Seguin on the wing to start his career, but the Bruins ended up going with Seguin as 3'rd Center initially. He's getting stronger on the puck, but although he's bulked up he isn't overly physical. Great penalty killer. Sturm is close to coming back (within maybe 4 weeks), but also has a NTC and is UFA end of season. Ryder has been playing much better this season, but as mentioned gets too much coin and is also UFA end of season.
