Calgary Flames forward Olli Jokinen has been suspended for three games for his cross-check to the face of Phoenix Coyotes forward Wojtek Wolski in the Flames' 3-1 loss on Wednesday night.
The incident occurred in the third period of the game, and Jokinen was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct on the play.
I watches a Coyotes feed and I didn't think it was that bad. None of their announcers were screaming for blood over it. They barely even talked about it. Too much imo but I really should take another look.
Worse than I remember. 3 games actually seems okay.
So Duchene gets a blatant cross check to the neck where the pricipal point of contact was the neck. May I remind you Olli hit the shoulder first. I forget who did it but if they get less than 3 games I will be outraged.

I was thinking this haha. not cause he's gone, but just watch, flames will pick their game up and grab a few wins, and lose when he gets back, than all the trolls are going to come out
So Jokinen gets 3 for his cross check to the neck/shoulder, but Fedotenko gets off with no penalty and no suspension. Can we get a little consistency Mr. Campbell?
Ya, if you can actually rationally connect the Flames great game with Jokinen's absence... take your time, I'll wait.
I'll do it. I'm not going to say that we won and played a great game just because Jokinen was out of the lineup, but I do think it was a factor for sure.
Jokinen's game has not changed since last year. Last year, everyone regarded his time here as an absolute failure. My opinion of him hasn't suddenly changed because he's gone from a 5.5 million cap-hit to 3.
Jokinen is still completely incapable of developing chemistry with any of his line mates, no matter which line he plays on. This is looked over when he doesn't play on the first line because we don't scrutinize the bottom 9 like we do whoever is with Iginla. Jokinen is always making moves with the puck like putting guys offside or throwing the puck where no one is around to get it. His production is 9th on our team, and 8th amongst forwards (Moss has only played 7 games and is closing in as well). I don't know how people can continue to defend him. He is the same frustrating player as always.
I feel that Jokinen has not been our best player, but he has been far from our worst. I would grade him about a C+ to this point. I do not think anyone can deny that here have been games where he puts his mind to it that he has made an impact on the game and has used his size to his advantage. To me the problem with Jokinen is that he is inconsistent with his play. When he is not playing well it shows, but when he is making an impact it shows as well. He'll have a good 2 or 3 games and then he will have a few not so good games and makes mistakes that ultimately hurt the team. Although the same could be said about a lot of players on the Flames. I will also add that I think Jokinen's absence was not at all a deciding factor on the Flames win against the Hawks. That was a must-win for the Flames and they delivered big time.
