A joke

It's the NHL, you must have a minimum of offensive talent. It's not the same thing for a D like Gill, but for a forward it's a real joke. In any other NHL team, this guy is in the AHL right now.

Ryan White better in every aspect of the game than Pyatt. He would do exactly the same job on the PK.
And this is based on what, exactly?

What I saw from him last year and during the pre-season

And by the way, our beat penalty killer is Carey Price

He'll get points eventually, just like Eller. Hard work pays off in the end. It always does.

I don't find either of them to be "really bad hockey players", and depending on my team needs I'd take either of them for $500k per season. Although there are a finite number of specialists you can have on a team. If I could have a good PK forward who also played physical or scored 8 goals a year, I'd take him over Pyatt. If I could get a defenseman who could score 10 goals and shoot on the PP but also play even average defense, I'd take him over Bergeron.

It's not all that complicated. But I think Pyatt's limitations are more naturally going to earn sympathy... he has "no talent" but hustles and succeeds despite his limitations. We admire those who work against their limitations. Whereas the perception would be that Bergeron has a certain amount of natural talent, but hasn't been able to make more of his career than that. As if his defensive limitations were something he could fix if only he would focus and work hard on them.

It's not actually as easy as that in the NHL hockey world, of course, otherwise every god-given talented player would be a star, and every kid in their backyard could work their way onto a 4th line PK role.

It's sad for Ryan White. Poor kid, it was suppose to be his year (but the coaching staff prefer to put a defensemen on the third line+Pyatt and Eller with an average of 0 goals and 0,5pts this year...) Pyat... For a rare time in my life, I can't stand a player of my own team
I don't have any sympathy for White, though. He's probably my favourite Habs prospect, and I hope he'll be my favourite player one day. But it's not "his year". Tom Pyatt outscored him last year in the AHL. Tom Pyatt is faster and more reliable than him this year. White has come a long way, but he still has just 2 goals more at the AHL level than Pyatt does at the NHL level. He has to work on some things too, clearly.

Logical choice would be Desharnais. He's on fire in Hamilton and is a C.
Gomez is struggling to say the least and Desharnais is known for his offensive abilities.

for sure that on pace hell have 0 pts.

White is in AHL 16gp 2g 5 assists -4 26 PIM
on that pace.

10g 25assists -20 130 PIM
how can you say that White will do the same job as Pyatt?
its in the AHL
Only Henry is doing worst than him with the bulldogs with -7

Last year Pyatt 41 games 13g 22a +17
White 62 games 17g 17a +8

How serious is White's injury !

Does anyone know ? On a side note Max Pac with four goals in two games !! Put him on our top six, can't be worse then Lappy and Moen right ?

He doesn't want to be called up he's said. Doesn't want to play 4th line minute or get benched after making one mistake. I'd support that and let him tear up the AHL. Have him up as a full timer next year.

Well he's not really in a position to make that decision. If the Habs feel that Pacioretty can help the big club and contribute on the top 9 he will be called up.

I wouldn't be surprised if Pacioretty pulls a Subban and helps the Habs down the stretch and in the postseason after a successful year in the AHL.

I love how people on here bash a player who hasn't put up numbers when in reality he was never signed to fill that role.

Even if Pyatt gets 0 points this season he was never signed to fill said role. Yeah Ryan White can hit, sometimes score and even fight. Is he going to help maintain top PK in the league or is Pyatt the guy whose been doing so all year?

He isn't here to put up points and no offense but if you expect him to and want him off the team as a result your knowledge of sports in general let alone hockey is pretty low. Seriously if stats are all that matters then NHL.com has a nice page on stats, not sure what you're doing here discussing hockey with people some of whom actually know the sport....
