NFL players shouldn't have to risk severe brain trauma very time they step on the field. Ask Andre Waters if the 'big hits' were worth it.

Oh, you can't, he's dead after killing himself due to brain injuries from playing in the NFL.
I don't think its that simple at all but I guess we'll see. It's going to be inevitable with the direction the league is going in

The hit on Hobbs is perfectly legal. Only on defenseless receivers and QB is it illegal to lead with the helmet.

If they don't address it, Congress will. They aren't going to allow this dangerous of a workplace to continue to exist.

The rule currently only applies to situations with "defenseless receivers." If you're going to enforce it, do it 100% of the time. They're working on it, sure, but something needs to be done now.

I don't know. Maybe its a necessary evil, maybe not but personally I know I'll enjoy the product even less if they go further with the rule changes.

I think you should question why your enjoyment of the game requires other human beings putting themselves at grave risk of severe head trauma.

I think that's an unfair statement. I don't like the way the game is played right now. It's not like I am calling for blood or against finding other ways to protect players.

These guys are incredibly fast and strong. I think its impossible to eliminate injuries by legislating blanket rules like this.

Given the last problem that Congress actually solved was the Texas independence from Mexico/annexation stuff, yeah, grandstanding was all I was expecting.

Should they remove hitting in hockey? It's not completely necessary, mens leagues and young kids play no check, should they remove it from the NHL?

Nice strawman.

They should remove all unnecessary contact with the head, yes. There is NO NEED to put another human's life a risk because some bloodthirsty idiots like to see people lying unconscious on the ice/field.

The players themselves are fine with it. They aren't being put at risk against their will

on a side note, I've had a hard time rooting against the Eagles this year. They've had a lot of Hokies. There was Macho until this season, Tapp, and that one guy..what's his name? Frederick Vick? Michael Schlick?

Ask all the crippled NFL retirees if they were really ok with it, or if they were just ok with it because they were acting macho.

If they aren't ok with it, why don't they do something about it? They understand it's a part of the game that can't be removed without making incredibly drastic changes.

As long as football involves two large, fast men sprinting into each other from opposing directions, there are going to be injuries. I'd like to see damaging headshots gone too, but there isn't much of a way to do that without regulating not only how defensive players hit, but also how running backs go through the line.

Also, this is when getting FGs instead of TDs on red zone trips bites you in the ass.

you're getting way off base here, seriously. Football at its very core is a brutal game, injuries are going to occur. The head is attached to the body and when you must hit the body as hard and fast as possible, at risk of losing your job in the NFL in some cases, heads will end up colliding.

Avant just hurt his head on the ground, maybe we should look into congress making sure the ground isn't over the top too? lol

NFL Helmets how ever should be looked into on the other hand, they're weapons attached to a persons shoulder pads.
