Smid: Should have known Avery would attack

Saw this article on the Smid/Avery incident, did not see a thread about it. Very interesting thought I would share.

he should have also mention that he saw avery's gloves come off till the time he hit him and that the hit he was "standing up for his teammate for" was a clean hit. If avery really said "next shift" thats ******. however if you're really that concerned about the hit you shouldn't care about the instigator.

As of right now, Avery should be focused a little more on scoring, and not shooting from any and every area of the ice before he worries about agitating the other team.

On pace for 4 goals.

Why are we still talking about this? Hasn't it been beaten to death on the main board already?

Things like this aren't over till the next one happens, and that doesn't necessary mean it has to be with Avery but when the next one happens this will officially be dead.

I like Avery but by this point even I'm hoping he catches a beating just so that his fanboys can finally put EVERYTHING he does to rest.

Shutup and play Sean, save your acting for offseason, restaurant openings and fashion shows.

Brendan Shanahan, per twitter: "BTW, wherever u fall on the Avery/Smid punch, without instigator rule that used to be how half the fights started. I remember. I remember asking a guy to fight in junior. He didn't say yes or no- just punched me in the nose. Pulled my neck muscles. Lesson learned."

I thought the same thing, and believe Avery is not at fault, Just thought everybody would like to see Smid's comments.

Maybe Smid should of learned not to instigate a fight after a clean hit. He got what he deserved.

Imagine the outcry from fans and media if Avery did what Fedotenko did to Duchene last night.

Oh, brother.... if Dan Carcillo did this to any one of the Rangers we'd be talking about what a cheap player he is for the next 6 months...

But yet nobody brings up how Stortini went flying in with blinders on at Prust to settle old scores while Prust was trying to help break up the ruckus at the gates.

Yeah Prust saw him coming, with about as much preperation as Smid got from Avery, maybe even less.

If smid had time to throw down the gloves he was ready and avery dropped him. I still think they need a rematch

haha, I like how Hull is emphasizing "passion." He knows about Avery's exploits. This makes sense why he signed in Dallas though, when Hull was the GM.

Shouldn't you be on the Devils board?

You mean, 35-40 points this year, exactly the type of player that he is?

That's what's funny. I think Sign' said it best in the first thread...If Avery didn't drop him with one punch, no one would've cared.

It wasn't a sucker punch. It just so happened that the first punch he threw Smid got rocked.

Nice to see Guerin say what he did. 90% of the time when you hear people speak about Avery you can instantly hear how much he sways their opinion of things.

Someone should show Torts that interview so he takes the reigns off of Avery....he's been a bit to tame for my liking.

I know I wouldn't.
