Patrick O'Sullivan (CAR), Ryan Carter (ANA), Michael Ryan (PHI)
Call me crazy, but I would be happy if the Leafs picked him up.
Reasons are the following :
- He's from Toronto. Not sure if he was a Leafs fan, but it may be an enticement to play better. By no means a sure thing, but can't hurt.
- He's an offensive player by nature, and possesses a ton of skill. No doubt about what he's capable of doing, it's the fact that he doesn't show it enough.
- The Leafs need offence. Period.
- We have a guy like Luca Caputi sitting in the press box, when he could go down to the Marlies and get some playing time in. Even if POS doesn't play well, I'd rather have him sitting in a suit and playing on his iPhone in the rafters than Caputi.
- His cap hit would be negligible in terms of impact to the cap space we have free.
Worst case scenario, we put him on waivers ourselves. No big deal.
Can't say I'm really surprised with sully. I remember getting blasted by Canes fans on how useless he is.
I have read their boards on this and i am not seeing too much bashing at all. From what i have seen over the years his work ethic on an off ice practice wise has been good, but his level of compete (consistent) in games seems to be the issue. From what i read on the Canes board it seems more like he was given limited minutes, scratched a bunch, no power play time, so not able to utilize his strengths at all. It seems more like the vets came in and have been playing very well and Skinner claimed another spot so unless there were injuries he was pretty much out of the equation.
Such a talented kid! Hope he gets picked up or is able to find his game and maybe some confidence in the AHL.

O'Sullivan was misused here, but even when he was being used, he wasn't impressive. He never seemed to be "into" the game whenever he hit the ice. Just going through the motions.
If he were given a Top 6 role, I can see him succeeding, but I doubt many teams will take that chance.

He hates Canada. He said it. He's "from" North Carolina, according to POS himself.
I would take POS back.
All of our LW are injured and he would be a huge upgrade over King on the 1st line.
Kopitar and Brown have learned to play with just 2 players anyways.
So it doesn't matter who you put on thier line. If he chips in some goals
it is a huge upgrade until Parse is healthy again
