I swiped this from another site. Sauer has 0 giveaways.

NHL Stats

That is the definition of a dependable, stay-at-home D-man.

Yeah, but he shouldn't get too much. Maybe 1.5.

Why is he going to miss ten games due to injury? I'm confused.

Better rookie season: Mike Sauer or Marc Staal?

Because his whole family is made of glass. Read the thread.

I love the way he is playing. But injuries are a valid concern.

Sauer is the man.... I had no idea what to expect, and I must say... I love this kid.

I think Staal had more responsibility o him from the get-go...Sauer is being spoon-fed as he is slowly gaining Tortorella's trust.

Yeah but fighting wont be the cause of a serious injury (it rarely ever causes any kind of injury). If he's going to get hurt, he's going to get hurt. Nothing he, or anyone else, can do about it.

Sauer has missed extended time with post concussion syndrome in the past. If he is susceptible to concussions he should not be fighting.

I wouldn't worry about it. Playing with a physical edge is a large part of his game. You can't neuter him. He has more of a chance of sustaining a concussion from a clean body check than he does getting punched in the helmet a few times.

Tell that to Sheldon Souray.

Was gonna say the same.

Then again, he shouldn't keep on fighting with an infected hand. That's just pure stupidity on his part.

I don't see how. He's hurt his hand a million times. He's a glass body. Like Sauer. Neither should be fighting.

I'd almost be willing to bet that Sauer will never be injured badly in a fight in his career. I just think people that worry about guys getting hurt because of fights are worrying unnecessarily.

This is part of this guys game. Maybe he's destined to have a short career, but you can't put leashes on guys.

i'll be the first to admit i wrote him off and i was wrong

He had two injuries in the AHL

11/21/08: Injured vs. Providence, missed 6 games.
4/17/08: Injured vs. Portland, missed remainder of postseason & first 12 games of 08/09 season

Neither seems to be related to a fight so I must have been thinking of someone else. But still, a fight isn't worth losing him for a stretch of time.

I couldn't find a summary of his injuries in Junior, but I believe he had a few there as well. I can't find the nature of the injuries either. Squishy or someone who watches the Pack may be more useful there.

I'm not surprised to see MDZ lead the team.

Of course.

I would of thought DZ would be leading the team with the worst +/- too.

This guy has all the tools to be a solid defender in the NHL, the only reason why he wasn't a #1 pick, it was even said on draft day, was because of injuries. At 23 he's finally healthy and coming into his own. He and his brother have always been underrated defenders. Sauer is very good.

Just pair this guy with Staal already, I've been waiting for 5 years now. It's meant to be!!!

If this becomes any kind of a discussion than Rangers fans have much to be thankful for this holiday season.
