Prospal (UPDATE: Prospal Skating in Practice)

Larry Brooks

Quote:
Chris Drury, out since Oct. 15 (his only game) after re-breaking his finger, is skating but as of yet has not been able to grip his stick. The captain, who is accompanying the club on the trip, is due for a CT-scan in the upcoming days.

Drury was supposed to be back by this Friday. 6 weeks. He can't grip his stick. Drury saw Dr.Posner(hand specialist)two weeks ago and had another set of x-rays. The Rangers didn't give any info on how that visit went.

Imagine if he had to retire because of this?

Friend of mine broke and dislocated his pinky playing soccer (he's goalie) and it's never been the same since. He doesn't have full range of motion.

I swear on Marty Brodeurs honor that thought never crossed my mind...

I still see Stepan as the logical choice to go down. Maybe the send White but when both Drury and Prospal are back I just don't see room for the kid unless another injury occurs.

Christensen is gone once Drury comes back. He's much more effective on the top line, and is just an overall better hockey player.

I wish White, Drury, Christensen, and Prospal as well as Boogaard, Gilroy and Rozsival all gone.

assuming hes healthy, i cant see capt quaalude helping us much other than faceoffs and perhaps on the pk and he can do both of those playing maybe 7-10 minutes max per game.

i want absolutely no part of him playing 5 on 5 anywhere but as the 4c.

and if were hoping he can help the pp, he wont. we dont need an undersized, slowfooted, weak shooting, oft injured 4th liner to help our pp.

not all that excited about him coming back in the least if it means less icetime for arty, step or boyle.

Doubt it. His ice time will be high, but it'll be mainly special teams play. This is how I see the lineup, when and IF he comes back:

Frolov-Stepan-Gabby
Pack Line
Prust-God-Feds
Avery-Drury-Boogaard

Drury gets PK and PP time. Should get around 15 mins a game.

The kid just keeps getting better and better, and Torts is using him in more important spots as the season progresses. I don't see Stepan going anywhere.

This guy better be 110% healthy and 110% in shape before he even THINKS about stepping back on the ice for any games. He better not think he's going to get back in shape in games and hurt the team even more than he already does in the process.

I wish this guy would just go away.

Clearly Christensen is the odd man out. Boyle, Anisimov and yes, even Stepan have outplayed him.

I hope we get rid of 5 players before the end of the year:

1) Drury
2) Rozsival (contract reasons)
3) Christensen
4) White
5) Gilroy

I don't get the White hate. He's a solid 4th line player to have. I'd actually play him over Avery at the moment, to be brutally honest.

He's not bad but he doesn't really have a clear role on the team, his cap hit is pretty high, and he's scratched at least half the time...

Tortorella obviously isn't comfortable using him in a scoring role, and it seems he wants more physical players on his 4th line, so White is kind of in limbo. Honestly if the Rangers could trade him to a team that could use him, that'd probably be best for everyone involved

His contract makes him undesirable

You watching the games? Stepan ain't going anywhere. He's really started to settle in after a rough patch.

Too bad about Drury. I think he would really help the team as it is constituted now.

White has taken $600,000 in cap space so far this season and has been a healthy scratch for 11 games. When White is dressed,he plays 5 minutes a game. $13,000 per day. Why is he on the team?

Because we got rid of Brashear and a cancer in Rissmiller.

Once Prospal/Drury are back, I see Todd White going to Hartford. That's the only reason he's currently here.

This is why I can't wait for Prospal and Drury to come back. They'll HAVE to send White down due to the roster limit.

Of course, they could send White down tomorrow and simply recall a guy like Weise if an injury occurs.

i cant wrap my head around why people wouldnt want chris drury back

faceoffs, PK, solid defensive play, possiblly 2nd PP unit

you guys would really rather have White, EC, or Boogaard every single game?

come on....this is actually the first time in the history of the organization where the team actually NEEDS chris drury in the lineup

and with how phyical this team plays, dont think for a second that we're not going to be hurt by injuries again

this team w/drury >> this team w/o Drury

The people that think Stepan is going down have no clue what they are talking about. I would guess that they have not watched much Rangers hockey if they think he is going to the AHL.
