Let's talk about the name Chilliwack though. You sold me right there.

He is having a great season so far in the WHL - He turned down an AHL contract with the Rangers.. haha

http://communities.canada.com/thepro...wack-quot.aspx

Quote:
Brandon Manning was so keen on coming back to the Chilliwack Bruins for his overage season that he says he turned down an AHL offer from New York Rangers.

It wasn’t at the top of the depth chart. Don’t get us wrong. And although Manning says they never got too far long regarding cash, rest assured that he wasn’t going to get rich. But it was a chance for a job in pro hockey, something that most people would have pounced on.

He says that his agent is still talking to the Rangers about a deal that would kick in beginning next season. If that doesn’t happen, he says that’s OK with it, because he could make even bigger money as a free agent if the Bruins have the kind of year he expects them to have.

His words may be the best advertising the Bruins can get. Their home opener is Saturday, when the Kamloops Blazers come to town.

"They [the Rangers] wanted me to go to the A and try out and I looked at their depth chart and looked at where I was probably going to be, and I felt that Chilliwack was my best option,” said Manning, who was named the Bruins’ captain midway through last season and told he would maintain the ‘C’ come his return this season.

“We have some unfinished business in Chilliwack. I really think this is the year that our division is up for grabs. I know Vancouver always finds a way to get it done, but maybe this is the year that we overtake the rivalry."

He's also 20 playing against 17 year-olds, right?

16-19 year olds yes...

On his overage season. Not sure what will become of him within our organization, but I do like the way he plays the game - hard.

his offensive numbers from previous years aren't terrible. d-men tend to take longer to develop anyway. really no risk to signing him... if he turns out, great. if he doesn't turn out, oh well.

I think he has been at one of the camps this summer, I guess they liked what they saw.

So that is the second dude that was at one of our camps and recently got a contract with us. Who's next, the Italian guy?

I actually like the signing although I only know what I've seen in the last 10 minutes about the kid. I just like signing some dudes to restock the cupboard and who knows. This guy has better stats on D than pretty much all our current prospect forwards do that are his age. IE Labreque, McGinn.

Let's just pretend this was our pick instead of Luukko, since that one is clearly a throw away.

Yeah, it sure is weird that Archie let one of his sons play hockey instead of QB, though.

I bet Eli is jealous because all he ever wanted to do was dance and feel beautiful.

Homer starting to really like the WHL. Well now we have the top goal scorer and the top defenseman in points.

The first pick is probablly already setup to be traded. Homer doesnt want a 1st or 2nd round pick. Doesnt like em.

But yea, this guy also fights a decent amount. A pp quarterback, and a fighter. Interesting combo.

I cant remember the last time the flyers had a bruiser on the back end. Not that this guy is just saying. Richardson I guess. No not hatcher as he was a shell of himself. Gone are the days of having a dman who can throw them down. Wells, carkner, Cochran and a host of others.

He's fairly solid. One of the better players on the Bruins here in Chilliwack.

Doesn't screw up much, and while he doesn't got much flashiness, he's someone you can fit into your defensive pairings in a few years.
