I also took Latendresse, and was coming to visit this board for hopefully some good news. Guess not. What sucks is that I picked both Latendresse and Miettinen and when they both got injured, i decided to drop one of them. Turns out i made the wrong decision...

This team can't score 5v5 without Lats.

According to Kent Youngblood Latandresse will have 2 surgeries tomorrow.

Quote:
Latendresse to have two surgeries Wednesday. First to fix labrum in left hip. Also to fix sports hernia.

Terrible news. Sounds like he's out for most of the season. The POS move makes all the more sense knowing that Gui is out long-term.

Trying to remember when Gaborik had his, but I want to say it was an eight-week recovery.

Was that for the labrum or the hernia? Gaborik had both of those as well, right?

Backstrom had the labrum surgery as well I believe. It seems like the Wild doctors should be very experienced on hips...

good for him.. I mean he won't have these problems again so being patient is the big key here.

EDIT: yup, RDS just confirmed it. He could be back at the end of the season.

He had both. I looked it up, Gaborik had an eight-week rehab and a two-week recovery so my guess on Gui would be somewhere between 2-3 months.

Does this injury and subsequent surgery have anything to do with Latendresse coming to camp fat and out of shape?

Because if it is, I'm very angry that he isn't responsible enough to know what's best for him as an NHLer.

As many Habs fans would say, poutine could probably be the problem.

No, it has to do with not stretching before playing two-touch and/or being a goalie. Then again, maybe the Wolves' second-year curse has crossed the river.

I remember it as being the controversial surgery he had during the 2008-09 season. He came back for a few games, wasn't right, so he went with the surgery that projected to take him out until after the trade deadline. It was the death blow. He was out 3 months.

Gaborik was out for more than 3 months, but he had the surgery January 6 and came back March 22. That's ten weeks.

History of Gaborik Injury; Take 83

April 6th, 2008; Fact: During the OT period, Gaborik and Laperriere fight. Lappy dumps Gaborik to the ice on his right hip. Gaborik gets up slowly.

2008 First Round Exit: Fact: During all 6 games, Gaborik cannot seem to elevate the puck and is slower than normal. Theory; Playing injured.

May 2008: Gaborik gets his right hip operated on. It's released that he has a genetic disorder which means that the ball of his hip isn't "ball" shaped. Specialist in Vail does operation on right hip only. Opinion: Camp Gaborik and Camp Management don't ask the question; "What about the other hip?" Logical Assumption: If it is a genetic defect, it would affect both hip joints. For the most part, the human body is symmetrical with the noted exceptions of the brain, heart and digestion.

October 15th or 16th, 2008: Gaborik is playing "soccer ball hackeysack" after a practice skate. Aggravates his groin. Is placed on IR shortly afterwards.

December 2008: Comes back for a few games. Isn't quite right. Opts for the surgery to repair his left hip of the same malfunction that affected his right. Out 10 weeks. Puts him on IR until a week and a half after the trade deadline. Essentially, can't be traded.

April 2009: Last Gaborik game in a Wild sweater.

July 2009: Gaborik signs with the New York Rangers. Hasn't had a hip related injury since. It's been run of the mill and/or shoulder injuries during his time with the NYR.

I can provide links...

Between this, Granlund, Bouchard, and Cuma, we've got to have a whole **** load of karma coming our way. And that's not counting the Gaborik disaster.

Throw in Jobke (shoulder injury), McKinlay, Caron (clavicle) and whoever else gets hurt by the time this post is read.

While I respect RDS's assessment, varying on his own recovery time, and if we are in the playoff hunt, I'd say he'll be make in March.

I'd be more concerned with the answer to "what is it with this team and anyone who can put the puck in the net?" personally...

Gaborik was always hurt, Rolston wanted too much money, Bruno is (finally) showing his age, now Lats is hurt long-term. I don't get a good vibe.
