Drury was supposed to be back by this Friday. 6 weeks. He can't grip his stick. Drury saw Dr.Posner(hand specialist)two weeks ago and had another set of x-rays. The Rangers didn't give any info on how that visit went.
Poor guy, taking a leak must suck.

Good question, I don't understand it. Is it because of the veteran limit in Hartford? If so, send him to Charlotte, keep the cap space and bring up anyone else. I'd rather see Grachev or MZA fill in when needed than this guy.

come on....this is actually the first time in the history of the organization where the team actually NEEDS chris drury in the lineup
and with how phyical this team plays, dont think for a second that we're not going to be hurt by injuries again
this team w/drury >> this team w/o Drury
Against Calgary, Yes I'd rather have Boogaard then Drury. White & EC are the Two I fully expect to be waived to make room for Drury and Prospal. EC has been waived by several other teams in the league and well White was traded for Brashear so that doesn't say a whole heck of a lot for Drury.

The veteran limit only comes into play regarding the gameday roster. They could send him down there and not play him if they are up against the limit.
Players on 1 way contracts can't be sent to the ECHL without their permission, and Charlotte isn't even our affiliate any more. They are in the AHL now and our ECHL affiliate is the Greenville Road Warriors.
Looks like the reinforcements of Drury and Prospal might be back even later than expected. Which is not the end of the world, considering the good play of Brian Boyle and Derek Stepan recently.
As long as they both get back with enough games for the team to get adjusted before playoff time then fine, I suppose.
I don't get the White hate. He's a solid 4th line player to have. I'd actually play him over Avery at the moment, to be brutally honest.
OH, no, YOU, di'nt!
Yeah, I kinda agree. I'd rather have Avery in the long run, but he needs to get back at it.

I still see Stepan as the logical choice to go down. Maybe the send White but when both Drury and Prospal are back I just don't see room for the kid unless another injury occurs.
YEAH! There's no room on this squad for a young kid with vision and passing ability.
Torts stated about 2 weeks ago Vinny would return in mid to late December. He hasn't skated yet. December 1 is next Wednesday. Late December will probably be the target date unless they push him back.

Chris Drury on bench watching, will skate afterwards; Vinny Prospal also on trip but not skating
Because we got rid of Brashear and a cancer in Rissmiller.
Once Prospal/Drury are back, I see Todd White going to Hartford. That's the only reason he's currently here.
No. White should have been assigned to Hartford before the start of the season. Not a second guess. First guess. Kennedy at $550,000 was a better option than White who already has a higher cap hit this season.

Guess the Rangers felt White was a better option. Whatever. I'm not gonna harp over his cap hit, because it really isn't affecting the team in any way.
Does anyone know what type of surgery Prospal had?
Are we talking a repairing of the meniscus? That is the only thing I can think of that makes sense in terms of the time frame. Don't see any ligament injuries making sense. Plus I could understand the concern over his career if his meniscus was really messed up and they left him in a bone on bone situation.

It will if we end up using the bonus cushion, or if we don't have enough cap space to add a key player at the deadline.
Though I don't think we have to worry about the bonus cushion. RB can correct me if I'm wrong, but I assume that Prospal's bonus is based on games played, and therefore he is unlikely to receive his bonus.

Are you kidding me? He's getting a CT of his freaking finger!!!! I intern at hospitals (I'm an x-ray student) and have been in CT rooms and have never even seen that done before! Isn't he a hockey player? What happened to the days when hockey players would just tape the broken finger to another one and play?
Whatever, this isn't really a bad thing IMO. He can take the rest of the season off and I wouldn't miss him. I'd rather have Prospal back.

Then still Dump him to Hartford, Greenville or wherever, doesn't matter, don't care, White doesn't belong in NY!
If we're not using the cap space for anything more important (which we're not now...) than White's good to have around as a spare/injury replacement. He's just overall solid.

But that's the thing. We could be saving that cap space to use at the end of the season.
The way the cap works is that the season is divided into days. There are 186 days in the season this year. Each day that a player is on the NHL roster, he counts against the cap. Every day that White is on the roster, he's costing us $12,769 against the cap. Kennedy would have only cost $2,957 per day.
That might not seem like a lot, but that can add up quick. If we had sent White down instead of Kennedy, we would have saved between 1 and 1.5 mil by the trade deadline. That much money would have allowed us to acquire a player with a 4 mil or even 5 mil cap hit at the trade deadline, because the cap hits are prorated.
So yes, having him on the roster is wasting our cap dollars.

If you cant wrap your head around it you may have to big of a head. Firstly 2 things he offers and only 2 things PK and Faceoffs, both of which can be done by other players who offer more than 2 things. His defensive play is not good, just take a look at his plus minus with the Rangers to see that. He takes up valuable ice time and looks awful out there, not brining intensity and grit that this team tries to pride itself on nor is he brining skill. He is a terrible example for other players on this team because they see a supposed C playing so the way he does and really hurts the team identity. Simply put he is an accelerated version of Todd White at this point kinda of like a fish out of water with very little purpose.

I really cant get over the fact they kept White on the team over Kennedy, i really cant typical for the Rangers i guess always having 2 bad moves for 1 good one.

There was little doubt of the mutual attraction between the Rangers and Prospal, only the ability of the parties to reach a contract agreement. As an over-35, Prospal qualified for bonuses that can be deferred onto the 2011-12 cap, if necessary.
The bonus package is believed similar to the games-played clause Brendan Shanahan received from the Blueshirts in 2007-08.
The signing indicates that the Blueshirts are convinced that Prospal's relatively disappointing second half was a result of the knee injury he sustained in December (and from which he probably returned too soon) and not a function of his age.
Shanahan, the 38-year-old winger who called the Rangers last summer to say he wanted to play in New York, patiently kept in touch the last couple of weeks while the team loaded up on the free-agent market. He then agreed yesterday to a one-year deal that will pay him a base salary of $2.5 million.
That is well below what he made last season - and what he could have made had he responded to any of the recruiting calls from rival clubs he received over the last 10 days. But easily attainable (and cap-deferrable under the CBA) bonuses should result in Shanahan making $5.3million this season.
A $2 million bonus will kick in if he plays more than 10 games and he will make another $800,000 in playoff incentives.
Prospal's bonus is worth $1.4 million. If he comes back in late December and remains healthy,he'll get the bonus. 10 or so games for $1.4 million. IF it's similar to Shanny's bonus.
