next week Miroslav Satan is going to sign contract in NHL club. As his agent Walsh said for him is more important where it will be than when...
Did anyone heard where it could be? I would expect NY region because of his familly
This was posted by Slovakfan over in the trade rumor/free agents forum.
Anyone hear anything back about him in Montreal, as the rumors like 2 weeks ago of Gauthier talking to him and having a possible signing discussions. Not saying we need to sign him, just now that he is going to sign supposedly and Gauthier was supposedly talking to him, wonder if it is the Habs. We are doing alright now, but maybe Gauthier wanted an extra gun up front.
Slovakfan said he could picture New York another poster said New York or Montreal, could be options.
While I don't think signing him is necessary, I've always wanted a Habs jersey that said Satan in the back, I have one of him on the Slovakian team and it gets a few laughs when I play in outdoor rinks.
Agreed that we don't need him per se. But we do seem to need somebody new to try out in our vacant top-6 role. If Satan is cheap in terms of salary, and you don't have to trade any assets to get him, well... I wouldn't complain if the Habs tried him.
It's one of those "Can't hurt" scenarios. The worst case is he does worse there than... Travis Moen? Is that possible?
lets hope he goes to the leafs
just tank them even more
Leafs are perfect where they are in the standings. In fact I wouldnt mind seeing them move up a spot or two, just to be sure they're nowhere near a top5 pick.
I think our interest in him depends on if Markov is out long term. If Markov was out 3-4 months then we have LITR cap room and can add a better forward.

I agree with you and no, I don't think it's possible for anyone to do worst than Moen. And if Satan is signed and can't cut it, we can just waive him or release him.
He might have an axe to grind against the Habs - I'd take anything that so called 'insider' had to say with a grain of salt.
No, he's another insider. I'm not sure we're allowed to name him on hfboards since he participates in a rival community (I remember posts being deleted when he was used as a source).

Instead of signing Satan, just play Pouliot with Gio/Cammy and Gomez.
The only way I would sign Satan is if he fits on the top 3 lines and I don't see him as an upgrade on Gio, AK, Cammy, Pouliot, Lapierre, Moen or Darche. He can probably score a few more than Moen and Lapierre but what you gain in offense you lose in physical presence.

+1
I don't care about the Leafs, 1967 is the only number that matter, but the Bruins, who are much better, were already given a future star... I don't want them to grab another one...

Personally I think he could not only be worse than Moen, but also that signing him would send a terrible message to all the forwards who haven't been given a chance at a top six role. Pouliot, Patches and Palushaj are all worthy of a look before a has-been, soft-as-butter prima-donna like Satan should be brought in.
The rumors of him coming to Montreal were so bogus. They were a complete CKAC fabulation.
Filosa called Walsh to ask him if he had talks with the habs, Walsh said "they are a few teams interested, negociations are getting serious, I can't comment". And somehow they considered this as a "yes".
When contacted, the habs management said they never were interested. And I'm happy about it.
