I was a huge fan of Prucha when he was on the Rangers, and I hope he gets picked up by a team that will give him plenty of ice time.

Maybe a re-building team will take a chance? Florida maybe? Hopefully not the Islanders

Hard to believe not one team would take a shot with him.

Oh well.

He should do well in Europe. That's likely the next move for him?

He hasn't been a good player for like 4 years. If he's not scoring, what does he bring to the table? I'm not at all surprised no one claimed him.

Remember when there was scuttlebutt about how the Caps were willing to trade the first pick overall in the 2004 draft IF Prucha was part of the package?

Yeah, good times!

It's amazing what happened to Prucha. 30 goals his rookie year. The following year not as good but still netted 22 goals and you'd figured it was a slight sophomore slump.

But then he just went downhill. Either the league figured him out or the leg injury killed him

This is obviously all Tom Renney's fault. If only he utilized him better

Seriously, I liked Prucha - he played his heart out for this team. But his 2005-2006 campaign was, in a word, lucky. He should be thanking Jaromir Jagr everyday that he even got a few years in the NHL.

I think I found the reason for his recent struggles:

Quote:
The Phoenix Coyotes assigned right-winger Petr Prucha to San Antonio of the American Hockey League on Friday.
RIGHT-WINGER!?!!?!!!!1!!!

don't they know that the key to his magic is him playing the left side? as a left wing, he is stronger, 3 inches taller, a better skater, and has an increased vocabulary. I thought only Renney could be that ignorant.

It's easy and convenient to rubbish Prucha's career and contributions now. Fact is, the boy scored over 50 goals for the club and was part of an organizational rebirth after years in the NHL's abyss. And he always looked like he was having fun on the ice. I enjoyed his time on the Rangers very much.

Oh man.. I was on the Prucha hype machine. Not sure what the heck happened.

I guess it shows just how tough it is to predict how prospects will turn out in 5 years or so..

3 years later...

"Steven Stamkos bolts to ECHL after he cleared waivers last Tuesday...

Stamkos, a 2 time 50 goal scorer, couldn't put his game together after 2 stellar seasons in the NHL, scoring only 15 goals in his last 3 seasons combined."

Funny to see my own comments. At that point I was not willing to trade Prucha. Though I think I soured on him faster than most.

Seabrook was a prospect that I liked a heck of a whole lot at that time. His defense was suspect and his physical game was lacking. Obviously he's been working hard to prove me wrong. =)

He worked hard but he fumbles with the puck too much. I liked him here but grew frustrated with him over time. Hopefully he works out a buyout and goes to play with Jagr in Russia.

It was Shanahan that killed him probably. Stole his ice time and his PP time if I remember correctly. A shame since we really only got one good year of Shanny
