You'd have to buy out his contract. 1/3 of the cap hit would count against the cap for double the remaining years left on it. (just off the top of my head, somebody correct me if I'm wrong; too lazy to look it up). The last thing we want is dead cap space for the next 10 years.
thanks need to find a team in NHL not smart enough to know they do not want him and that he can be a great player for them. GM is a tough job if you sign a softie for long term contract!!!!
In the long run I believe that Havlat's contract will be worth it. In the mean time I just wish he show a little heart. Maybe try and get out of his goal scoring funk with a little hustle. He is too talented of a player to produce like he is. He'll come around just like last year.
The visible lack of effort coupled with his agents recent remarks are really making people focus on the negative with Havlat. He could turn it all around with a few multi-point games in a row, though. If he bothered to try.
