Has anyone ever considered that he was playing with the ACL tear and that was what was rendering him useless? Nah, couldn't be possible.
Um, Katie reports MCL, not ACL. And you might have missed the specific play on wednesday vs the jackets when he got hurt and limped his way to the bench and then locker room.

That injury occurred right in front of me in section 104 (front row), it was not pretty.
This is not a good injury for this team long term, and people should not be happy he suffered this type of injury, my point guard on my team just had this happen 2 weeks ago and they are out for 6 months and in horrific pain.
This is not about Trent Hunter, this is an Islanders message board.
But it got me thinking...what does the Trent Hunter message board have to say about this?
Well, it seems that over on the Trent Hunter board, posters there are upset too. They wonder what the Islanders record will look like while ol' Trent is on the mend.
The Islanders fans that occasionally visit there- there aren't many, trust me- are lamenting the loss of their fleet-footed two-million dollar one-goal scorer.
All agree: the Islanders will miss his leadership and dressing room presence.

Oh, and the big body checks.
We will miss him, but not like we would miss AndyMac, Streit or Okposo. I think leadership, checking (he does hit), smarts, etc.... Just you shouldn't be happy that someone got a severe injury like that, it is bad karma and a lot of us like Hunter so you know you going to get heat.
I don't think making a dark joke on a message board indicates any great character flaw, but I'm in the minority.
I'm sorry he's hurt, but I'm not sorry he won't be playing for a while. It's weird how so many people who root against the team ever signing a waiver wonder or trading for damaged but serviceable goods are happy to have Hunter out there. He's just plain terrible at this point.
That's a shame. Didn't want to see that happen to a really good guy who plays the game with a ton of respect.
This is a HUGE opportunity for Joensuu though. His goal today was a nice start, but this injury should result in him getting more ice time. Let's hope he runs with it. I always thought he'd take Hunters spot one day.

Perhaps it was already hurt and the hit just did him completely in? He looked like a man playing hurt to me.
As I understand it, an MCL tear usually involves 4-6 weeks of rest - not even rehab. Trent would likely use a brace for a while. The ligament grows back together - as opposed to an ACL, which would have been an entirely different story.
Dunno if TH already has a history of MCL tears and I'm not sure what the severity of tear it is as a grade 3.
Wait a second....
Ahhh, here's more info:
Grade III MCL Tear
A grade III injury is a complete tear of the MCL. Patients have significant pain and swelling, and often have difficulty bending the knee. Instability, or giving out, is a common finding with grade III MCL tears. A knee brace or a knee immobilizer is usually needed for comfort, and healing may take 6 weeks or longer.
1. When posting news such as this a link is REQUIRED!
2. Wishing injury or being happy about an injury will not be tolerated here!!! How about if you broke your leg. Would you be happy if other people were glad you got injured? Probably not.
Personally, I never wished Hunter's removal from the line up due to injury. But we might as well buy him out too because Mr. Cheap has no plans on spending reasonably above the cap floor. With the space, we can put another not ready for the NHL kid in their and ruin him to.
