I was open to the "experiment" of putting him back at D. But with last year's playoff domination, who would say "yeah, of course, let's change his game completely!" I though he would last maybe 5 or 10 games back there. He's still a little shaky in his own end sometimes, but he is a difference maker.
Hence the strategy to not play back there more than you play in the opposing teams end.
I like it. I also think he'll learn a lot over the course of this season and get, well, seasoned. Little things like clearing the crease instead of reaching for the puck on that goal last week (Detroit game? I forget, but 2 GA in 4 games it's been a while. )
I picked him up in the 11th and final round in my 20 person hockey pool which is based solely on points hoping that the D experiment wouldn't last too long. He has been the star of my team and playing beyond anyones possible expectations. I didn't even think he would score at this pace as a forward As a Leaf fan I am upset that we clearly got the wrong player out of Chicago as Buff is a beast and Ladd is your Captain.
