I think just being patient will pay off for the Oilers. And if the Blues don't resign Brewer in the offseason he may be a good pick up for veteran leadership for the Oilers.
If I was trading Pietrangelo the player coming back better be Hall. I wouldn't do that trade. Right now it would be Hall plus. Pietrangelo is playing like a franchise defensemen.

Right now Pietrangelo is the better player he also has to potential to be the better player at their peak. I am one of the rare people that would take a potential 50 plus point defensemen that is very good at defense over a forward.

The defense the Oilers have right now is done on purpose, it's not some crazy coincidence.
It's designed on purpose to land another top 3 pick. Enjoy watching Hall and Eberle for the rest of the year and forget about the defense for this year.
Also please note -- since some Oiler fans are new to this whole rebuild thing -- you don't get a top 3 pick with anything but a terrible defense. Ask Pittsburgh, Washington, Chicago, etc. fans how much fun they had watching they defense get destroyed for years. It's not supposed to be fun.
