Rules

1. He has to be on an expiring contract, purely a rental, (if not then must have a swallowable cap hit, think 2-3mil keep in mind this is only if it's for more then a rental)
2. He needs to crash the net, so he needs to have some size
3. a 20 or more goal scorer would be ideal, with some playoff experience(ideal but not necessary)
edit forgot no 4
4) needs to be committed too two way play too fit into jacques' system
We might only have to wait a little more, for Patch.

Look a little higher on the list and we have an old prospect who never really panned out

Ok, so why would we trade a top 6 player, who is better than the player we're getting in return, to a division rival, when we're trying to ADD to our top 6.

Number of reasons. He got into an argument with Jacques Lemaire last year over being a healthy scratch. Lemaire wanted to give him a day of rest and Langenbrunner wasn't happy with it. Management clearly sided with Langs being that Lemaire isn't here anymore and Langs is.

That being said, his game hasn't been the same since being a healthy scratch last season. He was nonexistent in the post season and his leadership is coming to question now that the Devils have hit a rough patch. It almost seems as if he doesn't want to be here. If there wasn't a cap issue at the moment, I doubt there would be as many proposals, but if by some miracle every player on the Devils returns from LTIR at one time, then they are over the cap by around the same price as Langenbrunner's cap hit.

Basically this, his game since the middle of last year isn't what it was before. That being said, he is still able to play a solid 2 way game and get you 50-60 points a year and is on a decent contract.

I would absolutely love for the Devils to get Danny Kristo as a prospect. Maybe a langs for Kristo trade since he was a 2nd round pick, just not sure how high canadien fans are on him

as a hab fan i would never give up kristo for langenbruner. not a chance.
you want kristo? think about a young forward or high end prospect coming back...
kristo is the best RW prospect in habs' system

Dumont is from Montreal so i see no reason why someone wouldnt want to play for their home town, maybe hes a leafs fan haha regardless ive heard he loves it in Nashville and im sure it has a lot to do with the small market side of it and he can sorta live in peace away from huge media coverage.

With that said I'd trade Erat, but idk what MTL would give back

There's a difference between a guy who's a veteran AHLer at 26 (Locke) vs. a young guy who's improving there and has just turned 22.

Moreso when the younger guy actually is much bigger, much faster and physical.

You can have Langs for probably a 2nd rounder. Hes fallen out of favor with the Devils, and since hes been injured, weve been winning

What, wait, no no no, unplug the fax machine, please. It may be good value from a longterm or FHL perspective, but I don't want the team to try to address this top-6 winger hole by creating another hole elsewhere in the lineup. Halpern has been awesome for the Habs. His production has basically allowed our 2nd line center to be producing like a 3rd liner. Plus he has been great on PK, and decent on draws, etc. All for cheap. Halpern is a solid player for us. I'm not giving him up to roll the dice on a Fleischmannesque player.

We shouldn't get our panties in a bunch to keep a defensive player. Last year Dominique Moore was God. The year before it was Metropolit. They come and go and you can always find another. Our top 6 is more important. We need size.

The Habs have a 2nd round draft pick (50th overall) from not signing David Fischer, you know, the high school kid from Minnesota they drafted instead of Claude F. Giroux playing in their "backyard." at the QMJHL.

Anyways, from what the other Devils fans have mentioned so far, it seems as though Langenbrunner still has it in him, he just doesn't have it in him playing New Jersey. This may be a perfect example of a "change of scenery." He could also be alongside his good friend Brian Gionta.

We have a bunch of players in our AHL team that can fill the top 6 role if things start going south . No need for a trade.

I think every team has one of those. The Oilers passed on Parise to pick Marc Antoine Pouliot.
