I just want Murray gone, he has brought in some prospects for us, but I know he is going to trade picks/young guys for players at the deadline to make a push for the playoffs, so I want him canned.

Both guys are in the last year of their contracts.

I'd like to see BMurr coach this team before we blow it up. He's the only coach these guys have played for in forever.

I'm leaning towards Murray being let go and the new GM coming in and changing what he feels needs to be changed. Enough is enough.

It should be the last year for both of them.

It's the team and GM.
Too old, low, not enough piss and vinegar youth to make the vets feel better and be more accountable.

Changes won't happen though; the core is protected and our other assets aren't overly desireable. I expect Melnyk's head to spin into orbit if Dany Heatley scores a few goals Thursday.

needs to be done. Sooner the better. He built this team, and needs to be held accountable for that.

Bring in a new set of eyes that can evaluate what we have neutrally.

Who is out there for the GM spot?
Plenty of coaches who are looking for work however.

I'd actually rather see him coach, but he's made his bed as far as being the GM.

He simply can't be allowed to scapegoat another coach. It's not the coach. It's Murray. His team. His product.

He HAS to be the one held accountable.

I hope that Euge was just half in the bag and running his mouth to try to show confidence in the team. False bravado if you will. Bluffing.

Anyone with eyes can see that this team is one gigantic gong show.

Pat Quinn.

Do it.

In all seriousness though, I can't see Melnyk telling his butt-buddy to take a hike months before his contract is up. Nor do I think a mid-season GM change would make all that much difference in the quality of the on-ice product.

I'd also like to see a "major" (not just getting rid of Lee for some scrub) roster move before we go after the coach.

The team looks stale, time to bring in something fresh.

I've definitely heard worse ideas.
veteran guys love playing for him and he loves a team that uses it what it has offensively, might be a nice match there.

Paul Fenton in Nashville or Craig Billington in Colorado have both been taught well in management circles; Billington also has an Ottawa connection.

Both would be excellent options with how well they've drafted. Colorado has completely changed the way they do things post-Sakic. While Nashville has been built so well. Basically they are what we used to be.

Can we promote Murray somewhere in the organization so it doesn't look as bad? President? Head scout, something?

At least consider that the system the coach is providing the players with is making them look worse than they are. I wouldn't give up on each individual player in the organization just yet.

Give it up Johnny.

Murray is a GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD OOOOOOOOOOOOOLE SHAWWWWWWWWWVILLE BOOOOOOOOY.
He tells jokes to the media, his mom Rhoda just turned 95 and his brother is coaching in the NHL and his nephew is a scout!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

For Melnyk to can Murray would require two things:

BALLS and WORK.

He doesn't have the BALLS to stand up to Murray.

He won't put in the WORK to find a replacement.

Melnyk is nothing but a walking, talking PR man.
Put your damned pants on and make a hard decision for once in your life, you lush!!!

Have we learned nothing from two years ago? Team going nowhere, 10 points out of the playoffs, fired the coach and start winning meaningless games that got us the worst draft pick possible? Trading a 1st for Campoli? What did that accomplish for us?

The core is over, done, finish. Time to rebuild.

Tried the "connection" already. Frankly idc if the gm is from china as long as he know how to build a solid team. Enough with the connections and local boy crap!

He's been wanting to trade his arse out of town ever since he took over probably cuz he was a muckler pick. Teams aren't biting.

Something needs to be done with this team, it's going nowhere. I don't trust Murray to make the trades necessary, so for that reason I say he should go.

Bring in a new GM by Christmas, give him time to evaluate players before the trade deadline. You may as well leave Clouston in until the end of the season, again allowing the new GM to find his man.

There's just no point struggling to get into the playoffs, we're going to be dumped in the first round, so I'd rather just trade out players for picks, prospects and get a high pick.

Right now, IMHO, just about anyone is available on this team.
