Happens to fans of all organizations. I'll admit I was pretty high on the guy for a while there. Always hoping "this is the year!" that he makes the big jump from his current play to his potential but always to be disappointed later on in the season. That said, whatever held him back I'll never quite know. Some say he had attitude problems, others that he had no heart. Maybe both.

Oh well. All the best to Lee with another club.

But we didn't do that. We waived Brian Lee.

I don't think you can call a 23-year-old D-man a "bust", can you? Defencemen are known for taking quite awhile to mature and make a difference at the NHL level. I think it's still a couple years early to be calling him a bust. Time will tell I guess.

I'm higher on him than most and I can tell you at #9 he is a bust. Kid hasn't improved in 3 years.

Ran him out of town, as in, hand him a two-year one-way contract when he's done dick all to earn it?

What's that, you're talking out of your ass again? Well there's a shock.

id like to see the devils pick him up but its not gonna happen. i see some potential there maybe with a change of scenary (to the right organization), especially bringing him in to work with larry robinson. look at what he did for mike mottau, essentially made him from a career AHL dman to a good bottom pairing guy on a good team (or even a #4 guy on a thinner defensive team)

I can't see the Islanders and Oilers both passing on him. I think he's bound for either Long Island or Edmonton.

I remember going to a Sabres game against the Senators and it was Lee's first NHL game. I thought he'd be a part of the future in Ottawa. Guess things can change pretty fast.

If he goes through waivers: I'd love to see the Wings pick him up in the summer, teach him the "Red Wing way" in Grand Rapids for a year or two, and do to his career what the Wings did with a former #1 Dan Cleary on wing.

He can only be claimed by a team with a solid group of defencemens lacking a 7th D, i doubt we'll see a struggling defence go for Lee, that wouldn't clear any of their problems.

Lee is awful. Why are people acting like there's something there?

The Wild should pick him up so we can quite the revolving door of not ready AHL blueliners playing 2 games and getting sent back down. He can't possibly be worse than Barker.

There have always been different opinions on Lee for years now. You've got people who say he was given every chance to succeed and didn't hold up his end of the bargain, and others who say the organization developed him completely wrong and held him back. Everyone knows I've always been one of his bigger, if not biggest fans, so of course I'm going to defend him.

When he was taken out of the lineup earlier this year, he was the only defenseman on the team who was a plus. He was playing his off-side, which probably is part of the reason why he was taken out. Hell, even go to the Sens boards and look in October, there was a thread where people were actually happy with his play. He was and is not not nearly as bad as some are making him out to be, especially when he actually plays the right side.

I hope he gets picked up somewhere else if only because I am one of those guys who thinks he never really got a fair chance in Ottawa. There was one game a few years back where he took a double minor and the other team scored twice and the Sens lost, and Lee was sent to the AHL the next day. He was playing fine earlier this year, then had a bad game against Pittsburgh, got benched for most of that game, and hasn't seen the ice since. I don't have any doubt he can be a consistent NHL player, but there are obviously others who disagree.

Murray once again shows how incompetent he is. Everyone was scratching their heads last March when he gave Lee a two year, one way deal when he could have easily waited a few months or even played hardball. And now he's the one whose stuck waiving him because his value is now gone.

Happy someone whose been close to the organization for a few years was willing to say this.
