I thought of Iginla. I'd definitely take Iginla of about 3-5 years ago. He's lost a step or two.

Remember those Gagne for Iginla trade rumors of a few years back? Ah, what could have been...

EDIT: And I like Gagne (first jersey I bought after the lockout).

Guess I better throw in my $.02...

Shane Doan. The End.

There are players that I wouldn't mind in the O&B, but the only one (besides a return of Simon Gagne) I want to play in Philly is Doan.

He is still only 33 and after a slow start is back at 10-10-20pts in 24 games. He is the perfect type team guy, he will drop with anyone and is not afraid to get to the net or dig the corners, he is the perfect sniper type player who would benefit from playing with Giroux.

That's absolutely why Iginla jumped into my mind. But in the spirit of the OP, where players from the entire league are (hypothetically) available, the 33-year-old Iginla is a ways down the list.

I have changed my mind. I have decided I want Gregory Campbell on the Flyers so that we can be the darlings of the League's Senior V.P. and Director of Hockey Operations. Either we'll start getting fairer calls or the league will finally axe Colin. Win-win.

I would kill to have Loui Eriksson on the team. Or Henrik Zetterberg.

Crosby to the Flyers, just to see Colin Campbell's head explode like a ripe melon. "That was an obvious two-hander across the back. But it's Crosby. But it's the Flyers. But it's Crosby. But ..." He'd burn his circuitry like Harry Mudd's android creations.

This is just me dreaming, but apparently Michael Nylander is trying really hard to come back next season. If Leino prices himself out of our picture I would just love it if we signed Nyllet for cheap and he would come back as a solid point producer again. He's been my favourite player (next to Igor Larionov) since around 1990 when I saw him for the first time.

Martin Hanzal would be alright as well...

Nice Harry Mudd reference!

I'd really like to see Crosby on this team, as blasphemous as it sounds.

Parise
Doughty

Someone we might actually be able to afford, I'd really like to see Jussi Jokinen on this team. Good player, puts up a lot of points, and would definitely help winning a shootout once in a while.

It seems like Curtis Glenncross won't be playing for the Flames next season. I wouldn't mind if the Flyers picked him up. I like his speed.

I second Zetterberg. Let's get Ryan Miller while we're at it. And Parise. And the mythical Healthy Gagne

I mean of course there are a litany of good players but of realistic options, well, I think Handzus might be a possibility. The Kings would love to bring him back but they are strong up the middle and unlikely to bring him back given their cap situation (they have money but they NEED it). If he gets passed over for his initial demands and could sign on the cheap, hell yes, could help on the PK, spot duty on the PP and be a shutdown guy at even strength. Great checker, consummate pro, good tutor for young players. I see this guy in practice all the time, what an asset to a team!

Another L.A. guy that I actually don't think will be available but could be is Wayne Simmonds. Skates hard, plays in all situations, digs deep when you need him to and is a guy who will fight, too.

This Skinner kid on Carolina has a serious motor, I would give up a lot to get him on this ELC. Awesome wrist shot, nice hands, good speed and high compete level. I have been very impressed with him seeing him up close a couple times this year.

You'd love to have a guy like Campbell or Markstrom in the pipeline but Bob Rocks is doing his thing. I'm not too worried about goaltending or defense.
