It only needed CP to be not exceptional for one period for this team to crumble.

I dunno, the Cammy can't be criticized for anything ever schtick is wearing off here, people are seeing he's a streaky human. I was really hoping after the playoffs last season that he would take that next step in consistency and finally start being a regular 40 goal guy. Would love to be proven wrong by him but for now he's a 6 mil cap hit 30 goal scorer.

Although, if he alway does that in the playoffs then forget everything I just said.

Man, It's a thing to get scored on a breakaway, but Cammalleri stopped skating right there .. what the **** man?

Cammalleri is not playing like he should, and good for him if he gets points, but those defensive lapse and giving up on the play isnt what Martin want on his team.

All the team can do is shake their head, learn what they did wrong, and move on quickly.

As a fan, holy bleep that was a redonkulous lack of... I dunno I want to say effort, but it was more than that, they were 'off'. You could see Subbans look of dissapointment when he got burned at the end, but it happened seemingly throughout the game.

And is it just me or could we not win any 1v1 battles in the latter stages of the 3rd?

Price, could have preformed better. Just not one of his better games imo.

Gomez lol.

cammy

Idk, team looked like they just weren't in it tonight, hopefully they come out with a bang against NJ.

Good news of the night: Pacioretty scored 2 goals.

The good: Darche, Pouliot, Eller, Harmlik
The bad: Halpern, Spacek, Lapierre, Cammalleri
The ugly: Subban, Gomez

Memo to the Habs... That's what you get for taking your foot off the pedal and underestimating a team below you in the standings..

The young Oilers wanted this game way more than the Habs.. Simple as that..

Loss to Edmonton. Deep breaths, MathMan... rational thoughts...

I think a lot of things will get written about a game that the Habs, by all rights, should have won. Especially after outplaying the Oilers by that margin. Like how the Habs' lead protection sucks balls. Like how the Oilers were somehow better.

Bullcrap.

They were sort of due to lose a game they mostly deserved to win.

The Habs are going to lose 2-goal leads in the third, they are going to mess up, they are going to get loser points. They are going to lose games where they widely outplay and outchance the opposition. When they do, they might as well spot the two points to a Western team that won't bite them in the ass.

And they're also going to have games where they get away with getting beat. Heck, they did earlier when they won against Philly and Price stole that game.

So, let's be philosophical about this. The only thing a hockey team can control is whether they outchance the other team, and the Habs did. Hockey is a game where the better team doesn't always win. Heck, it only wins about 60% of the time, if that.

So, no throwing oneself off bridges after this, please. It's not even the worst loss of the season. That was the Atlanta game. File this one under "**** happens".

It still smarts like hell, though.

Not only will this team have to realize at some point that we are NOT legit contenders and that we have to rush night in and night out just to keep our head out of water, but Gauthier and Martin will also have to realize we need to have another solid d-man back on D, sooner than later.

Gill and Gorges are going to be dead by the 50 games mark if we keep it up like this.

As for the forecoming and previous comments: I was and still am sure, for some reason, Gomez and Cammalleri will get some heat for tonight's loss.

Thing is, these lines are NOT working consistantly and we have to go back to what we did in the end of last season and go with proven trios.

Plekanec Gionta and Kostitsyn have been blanked out of the scoresheet in all but 2 of the last 7 games.

I think Pacioretty might be called out sooner than later. And I'm sorry for his fanboys, but Pyatt is definitely not useful enough at the time being to get a spot at forward in the NHL. We have to look at other alternatives.

Everything fell apart when Plek rolled Andrei on the ice. I think what he actually did was change time.

When is it EVER good in this league.

We had a chance, still up 3-2, on the PP......and blew it.

This loss is on everybody.

And if JM told the boys to sit back in a 1-2-2 (basically letting Dubnyk and that no-name defense off the hook) then he deserves criticism, too.

Perhaps they were already on their way to Jersey in their heads.

Totally unacceptable to not close out a 3-1 lead on a basement dweller.

Oilers had nothing to lose and they went for it.

It's ok Subban didnt cost us a game since the beginning of the season before tonight.
When you use a young like him for that much icetime you have to be aware that some time he will make huge mistake.
It's was tonight

Montreal was absolutely brutal defensively tonight. They weren't sharp at all and if it wasn't the Oilers, they likely get no points tonight.

How many times was Spacek walked around, 4 maybe 5 times the led to partial breaks.

Subban looked like he was playing shinny. So loose with the puck.

Gill and Picard were bumbling it around.

Add in poor board work, Forwards turning it over at the opposition bluelines and the scoring chances Edmonton got were bound to start going in.

Montreal outshot Edmonton but i wager Edmonton got many more very good scoring chances.

Eller looked good again tho. Time to give him Cammalleri and let Scotty be the defensive center he seems to want to be.

They always seem to display a terrible effort against "weaker" teams because they underestimate them.

This lost is yet another lesson. But when will they ever learn?
