Andrew McDonald to play tomorrow

According to Strang's twitter Andrew McDonald will indeed be playing tomorrow. Him and Hillen are being taken off of IR and Motteau and Hunter are being put on it.

Excellent news - I hope they aren't rushing him because of all the other injuries.

Most likely. He played well and had a nice taste of NHL hockey. Now he can go back to Bridgeport and improve on the things he needs to work on.

Exactly. Hard not to get a little giddy over this kids future though.... FWIW, I think he will be better than DeHann.

A-MEN.

Snow/Wang are the boys who cried wolf, so we cannot trust anything they do anymore.

Well according to Strang 2 players are going on IR and 2 are coming off so that would mean that there's still a roster spot for Hamonic.

With MacDonald coming back, we have:

Wisniewski
Eaton
MacDonald
Martinek
Reese
Gervais
Hillen (eventually)
Hamonic

That's eight defenseman. I'm sure Hamonic gets sent down once Hillen is ready, and Gervais hopefully becomes a scratch.

MacDonald probably replaces Gervais and his broken face, so we are still at 6. And a very good 6, if Streit were to return and we dealt Martinek for a 2nd rounder or much needed expensive forward (think Martinek for Sturm), we would be at a very solid 6 of:

Streit
MacDonald
Eaton
Wisniewski
Reese
Hamonic

This would be our best 6 IMO, I know Martinek is in middle of that mix, but he has value on the market.

I say the Isles D is going to be back to normal within the next 3 games with McDonald back. He gives the D stability. I cant stand Reese. Hillen has to get more reps, I think he will return to form eventually. Its a sin if he gets scratched for Reese.

We must be seeing different games, because I love what Reese brings. He plays smarter and more within his capabilities - and thus, more effectively - than either Gervais or Hillen.

He is much better in those little battles along the boards than are either Hillen or Gervais too.

I've actually found Reese to be their best dman over the past few games. Good positioning, deflecting passes, clearing rebounds, safe outlets, etc. This stuff doesn't show in the boxscore, but it's critical for an effective dman.
