haha, remember Blair Betts on the 2nd line? Renney did some crazy stuff.

Anyway, I don't see how it could hurt. Avery actually did quite well a few years back on the top line.

Remember when the Avery - Dubi - Jagr line was kicking ***? That was fun.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that remembers the cup of tea Avery had with Jagr and Dubi. I loved that line and just couldn't quite figure it out why Renney didn't make them stick.

It was no secret that Avery came to camp this season showing that he really worked on his conditioning in the off season - the guy can flat out skate fast.

I'm excited to see that line, but I'm also very interested to see how Frolov responds...

...wrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrraparound

Jokes aside, I really hope Frolov answers the bell.

Yeah I loved watching that line play.

Torts just needs to make a decision and find a steady linemate for Gaborik. Its tough for Gaborik to build chemistry when he is having different linemates every game.

Since Gabby was signed I've been saying Sean is the guy to play with him. He can skate, he's got vision, he's got skills, he can score, other teams will pay attention to him instead of Gabby, and most importantly he'll protect Gabby. Messier had Graves and Graves became a scorer. Lemieux had Stevens and Stevens became a scorer. Gretzky had Esa Tikkanen. They always had someone to keep them safe and to do their dirty work. Avery can do it for Gabby.

Avery's name shouldn't be mentioned in the same paragraph as either of those other mentioned players.... Gaborik doesn't need anyone to protect him... He faired just fine last year playing with Prospal, Christensen, and Dubinsky.... Avery needs to stay onsides... We'll see how they look tonight....

Wish he would've gotten a goal too. He played one hell of a game.

Even better...I wish he would've scored from the side.

Atleast tonight.

Avery stripping Gillies of the puck was classic.

Didn't Jason Ward play on the first line with Jagr for a game or two?

I couldn't tell what happened at first...you see Gillies with the puck, the camera is zoomed in on the upper part of the glass, focusing on Gillies waist up so you don't see the puck or stick, then all of a sudden Avery skates by, digs in, and skates away. I didn't think he stole the puck at first because Gillies didn't even move!

Yeah from the angle they showed live, it looked like Avery was skating to some random spot along the boards.

Avery-Dubinsky-Jagr was one heck of a line. That was one of the best weeks I've ever experienced as a Rangers fan. It was great until Renney inexplicably broke them up.

I like that line a lot. Hopefully, it wasn't just a case of playing against a **** team, with a **** defense.

We won't find that out for a while, considering we play the Isles, the Sens, then the Sens again, all terrible teams.

But dudeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. He only has one goal!!!!!

I swear. If you just use Aves and take people's opinions on this board, it's very easy to see just how many people on here have an opinion worth valuing.

It's amazing how much this guy is slighted because people don't like him.

Come on Fitz, still waiting on your sarcastic comment.

Puck possession is Avery's game. If he can distribute effectively, he will succeed with Gaborik. He needs to work on his own shot, specifically getting it off quicker.

Gift of Gabby Saves Rangers

Quote:
The Islanders attempted to get in Avery's face all night to provoke him, but the amateurs failed to irritate the master. Indeed, one-time Ranger P.A. Parenteau is likely to regret his trash-talking spin in front of the Blueshirts' bench after the Islanders had come back to tie at 5-5 at 14:10.

"P.A. skated by the bench and basically mocked us," Avery, who created the winner on the next shift, told The Post. "It was the wrong move for a guy like that.

"He's never going to get himself into a club in the city after I send out e-mails."

Definately a success last night, but I hope they can keep it up.

Sadly, even if they do, it will probably only take one off night for the coach to break them up....

Avery will score goals. He's just snake bitten. He's shooting the puck well. Hard and on net. The goals will come. He hasn't had many linemates with the offensive skills of a Gabby. He also played well with Stepan in the preseason and scored a few.

Plus he has the knack of scoring the dirty goals infront. But his linemates have to get the puck there.
