The draft picks were a first and 3rd in 2007. The picks were traded back to Nashville for the rights to Kimmo Timonen and Scott Hartnell who they signed to long term deals
I was aware that they sent back the first rounder but am unaware or forgot returning the third also. This really surprised me.
Getting Kimmo was no small result and IMO was a key cog in getting the #1 D-man that the Flyers so badly needed. Hartnell was a real fine pick up as well, but not the impact player that Timonen is.
... I always had the feeling that that secondary deal was actually a part of the Forsberg trade -- although that is merely my view -- and I also have a hunch that there was a gentleman's agreement that IF Foppa were to be healthy come the following season when he was a FA, he would come back to Philly... With his still having the ankle problems, the agreement was negated... Again, IMO... no basis to report but gut feelings and knowing the Flyers and getting a feel for Forsberg.
EDIT: Upon further thought... wasn't the third a 'conditional' pick that never happened due to the conditions?
The flyers did not trade that 3rd round pick back to Nashville - they used it in a trade with washington to move up to the second round to select Kevin MarshallWashington got our 08 2nd and Nashville's 07 3rd in exchange for that pick
While P.K. Subban and Eric Tangradi were still available
