I agree with your Mr. Hab.

I want to see us give Weber another 10 games or so, this way we'll have a real good feel for exactly what he can bring to the table. If it's anything like what we saw from him tonight? He has a spot on this team with Markov out, just so much more offensive upside over Picard. I don't want Subban to sit 10 games though just to fit Weber in, so I'd scratch Picard. Subban just brings too much to our blueline over a guy like Picard to warrant continually scratching him.

I'd much rather see Gauthier target a rental Top 6 forward to help us get some more offensive synergy going on that 2nd line. Not anything that's going to go cost a fortune or handicap us against the cap for multiple years, but just someone who can stop-gap us until Pacioretty is ready.

who do we scratch to keep weber up? All of our D have been playing fine. Subban only had one bad game.

It's a shame because he's playing well but Picard is the odd man out. He will get his chances though, the Czechs should get a few games off each so they can stay healthy.

I know the Subban scratch wasn't a popular move but it's a way we can see what we have in Weber. With the loss of Markov, we need to see what our needs are and if Weber doesn't get any games, we may just lose him for nothing. I wouldn't be surprised if we one of Spacek or Hamrlik gets dealt. With Gorges, Gill, Subban, Picard and Weber, plus one of those guys (likely Spacek because Hamrlik is stepping up his game right now) we have a spot for someone who can be anywhere from a #1 to a #4. And we have a lot of salary room to work with. The other option is that we're showcasing Weber to some other teams.

If PK is back in, you have to scratch Picard. He's been great, but he's also been hired as the 7th Dman. If he needs to sit a few ones out, he'll understand.
I've been saying we should do that ever since Weber has been called up.

How about Spacek sit. Dude don't bring a whole lot, and he turns 37 in a couple months. I would rather have someone who is more solid on the D side than the little offense he brings.

Spacek wont sit. I'm not saying jaro is bobby orr, but I do think he gets a bad wrap around these parts. His mistakes can be glaring, but he does good things rather quietly too. The one thing I really appreciate about him is his ability to step his game up when the stakes are high.

Exactly. Today they'll decide what the best option is for him, both short and long term.

Harry mentioned that Dr. Mulder said it could be a sprain and would be 4-6 weeks. Let's hope that this is the case. Either way we'll know sometime today i'm sure.

Not trying to be a wise arse but does it take this long and so many opinions to determine it's a sprain? I'm just not optimistic anymore.

I really don't get comments like this from Habs fans...do you guys not realize that Martin plays Hamrlik and Spacek as his shutdown duo? They play against the top line everynight, don't expect them to be split up or either to be scratched, traded or waived.

Some of you may not 'like' Spacek, but Martin obviously feels different, and I think he's justified.

Obviously people that say that don't know much about the games or are likely kids.

+1

As for the money saved with Markov out for the season, I think we should spend it only on a key player as good as Markov. Otherwise, don't bother trading for 3rd/4th lines and 2nd/3rd defense lines players.

Those people probably don't watch games and only look at roster sheet (to determine players' age).

They may just start floating some rest days about. Hammer, Spacek, and Gorges (probably misspelled some, but I am not a total fanboy) shouldn't play every game of the season ... they will get worn out. Rest is good. And as others have written, Picard is the 7th, and could do with sitting a few.

Anyway, any update on Markov's return?

Tough call. Did you see him get turned inside-out last night by several of Edmonton's kids? It wasn't pretty. However, getting out of Toronto would probably give him a boost.

Wouldn't it be faster to just give that pick to the Bruins?
